Chapter Four

The next morning, Summer waited until late to go to the airport. Just as she’d hoped, Nick was already on the plane, with his hat, sunglasses, and goatee in place.

‘What a loser,’ Summer thought. She found some empty seats and sat by a window. She put in her Destiny’s Child CD and put her headphones on. Pretty soon, the plane took off, and she was happy because no one came over and sat next to her.

Ten minutes outside New York, Summer called Erica. “Hello, this is Erica!”

“Wow, aren’t you awfully peppy.”

“Oooohh, yeah. Are you at the airport? Because I have the coolest surprise.”

“Wow! Actually, we’re due to land in about 5 minutes. I figured I would call early, in case it takes you awhile to get a taxi.”

“Don’t worry, Summer. That won’t be a problem. Trust me.”

“Ok, whatever. I’ll see you soon, then.”

“Alrighty, bye!”

Well, the plane landed, and Summer went off to find Erica. She found her at baggage claim, and standing next to her was, you guessed it, Brian Litrell. Summer’s jaw dropped. This trip was turning out to be a little different than she expected.

“Hey, Summer! Me and Brian were both coming to meet people so we decided to come together!” Erica said.

“Oh, how exciting,” Summer told her tiredly. She turned to Brian. I’m Summer, if you didn’t know already.”

“And I’m Brian, if YOU didn’t know already.”

“Oh, I knew. I saw your little friend on the plane.” Just then, Nick came up behind her.

“Hey guys,” he said. “Brian, who’s your friend?”

“Erica, meet Nick. Nick, meet Erica.”

“Hey,” Nick nodded. “Bri, are we ready to go now?”

“Oh, yeah. Did you know that Erica and Summer are staying at the same hotel as us?”

“Whoopee,” Summer said under her breath.

“What?” Erica asked curiously. “I didn’t hear you.”

“Nothing, just talking to myself.” Just then, Nick noticed Summer. “Hey, Summer. I didn’t even see you there.”

“You two know each other?” Brian asked. “Let’s just say that I was sitting next to ‘Nick CASTER’ on the plane, and he bore an overwhelming resemblence to Nick CARTER. Who woulda thought?”

Brian and Erica looked at each other, confused. “I’m sorry you asked,” Erica said to Brian. He nodded in agreement.

“Anyway,” Summersaid. “I’m REALLY tired, so Erica, would you mind pulling yourself away from loverboy so we could go back to the hotel?”

Erica glared at Summer. “Boy, didn’t SOMEONE wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning!”

Brian cut her off. “Yeah, me and Erica both came over in a limo, that was her surprise. So, if you’re both ready, then I guess we can leave.”

‘This is just peachy,’ Summer thought as they went to they went to the limo. ‘Not only am I totally jet-lagged and messy-looking, but I’m going to the Plaza with Romeo, Juliet, and Pinnocchio! Maybe this vacation wasn’t such a great idea, after all. Or maybe I’m just really mean.' Just then, the limo pulled up in front of the Hotel. Summer stepped out and looked up at the Plaza Hotel. Whatever the week had in store for her, she was ready. Maybe.
