This was my first BRC concert. What a blast!! The show was great from the start, even the opening act.
I really wanted to go to this show because I love "Achy Breaky Heart" and I found out that it was his only Canadian stop this summer, so my parents got me a ticket for my birthday. I`m still trying to come up with reasons as to why he`d pick Brantford as his only Canadian stop. He never did tell us why.
Anyways, on to the review: the show started right at 6:30 with Dick Reeves from 820 Cham Country. He introduced Nick Charles, then left the stage. Nick Charles was a blast (and a cutie, I must say). He mostly did covers, but also through in one of his own songs "Midnight Drive". The covers he did were "Dust On The Bottle", "I`m In Love With You Baby And I Don`t Even Know Your Name", "Follow Me", and "Great Balls Of Fire" but he wasn`t singing, just dancing while the band played the music. He even jumped down and ran up the one aisle (opposite to the one I was sitting on) and back to the stage. So if you`re in the music store, and are wondering what to buy, see if he`s got any albums out, he`s quite the musician.
Well, after Nick was done (approx half an hour later), Dick came on to let everyone know about the 20min intermission....ok, intermission`s done, Dick`s onstage annoucing BRC.
Now they didn`t enter the stage like you`d expect. First the lights on the background were creating a neat pattern, then they started moving, then his band Sly Dog came on, and finally Billy Ray hit the stage. The crowd was cheering!
He interacted with the crowd quite a bit, like signing autographs, receiving gifts, and taking pics. I didn`t reconize all of the songs, but I new quite a few.
After the show, quite a few people were infront of the stage, hoping for an autograph, me included. Only about have of them were lucky. After a while he stopped signing and left. So as I was walking up the aisle, I saw Nick just out in the back lobby (I was headed to the front lobby). So I went and got his autograph. He`s really sweet and funny. I handed him my autograph book, and he realized immediately what it was. So instead of not writing anything, he put "I`m 327th!". For most fans he just put "To _______," and signed it. What a sweetie!!
Then it was over to the front lobby (I should`ve got a pic with Nick, darn-it!!). I bought a BRC t-shirt with a flamingo on it.
Here`s the setlist (in order as best as I can do):
