This was my first Heartwood concert. Actually, I had never heard of them before, although I knew two of the people in the band - Anne Lindsay (from the Jim Cuddy Band) and Alex Sinclair (from Tamarack). The concert was part of the entertainment at the Weekend In Paris celebration going on that weekend. The weekend was organized by Charlie Cares (in photo, on right) and his wife Chantel.
The three members of Heartwood are, as I`ve said, Anne Lindsay *centre* (fiddle, mandolin, vocals), Alex Sinclair *right* (guitar, vocals), and Charlie Cares *left* (whistle, bodhran, kalimbe, harmonica, autoharp, banjo uke, vocals). They play folk music, and it`s really neat.
They played a few songs from their album, such as "Emma`s Dance/The Hills Of Mono", "My Nine To Fives Are Over", and "The Log Drivers` Song". They also did some others that had been sung during the gosple sing earlier that day. Afterwards we talked to Anne and Alex a bit, and Charlie later on. They`re all really nice people.
It was really a great show, and I hope to see them again sometime.
