Chapter 4

The girls all gasped. The guys just tried to pretend like they didn’t hear it. I know they were all looking forward to it. I was most of all. We had our names and everything picked out for all our babies. Me and Nick decided to name our first boys after each other. So, if it was a boy, he’d be Nickolas Carter. If it was a girl (Sara decided because I decided the boy, but I have to admit I like this name) it’d be Alexandria Elizabeth. Either that or Krystal Marie, that wasn’t bad either (but kinda hard to spell). “I’ll be right back,” said Megan. She left and headed toward the bathroom. “I’d better go with her,” said Lia. “We both need moral support.” “I’m going too then,” said Amber. “Me three,” said Amy. It was just me and the guys left, shocked in the waiting room. All of a sudden, I just broke out and screamed, “Oh Lord! How could you have done this to me? What did I ever do to you? Why Sara? Why the most precious thing in my life? Why, God? Why?” Nick grabbed my arm and said, “Brian! Get a hold of yourself B! She’s gonna be fine. Have faith. Just you wait, in a few days she’ll be up and running and kicking your ass at basketball again!” I had to chuckle, “Thanks Nick.” “Anytime, I got your back.” The girls returned, streaks of tears down their faces. “Well, we’d better get going,” said Kevin. “Is everyone ready?” “Yeah, let’s go,” said Megan. “I would stay, but I’m freaked out of hospitals.” “But that’s where we met!” said Nick. “I know. Just think, if it were for Sara dragging me along with her, we’d never have met! None of us would have know each other. Well, Sara might have, but still, you know what I’m sayin?” “I know exactly what your sayin.” said Nick. “Let’s go kids.” He was starting to even talk like the girls. We’ve spent a lot of time with each other. “I’m gonna stay here,” I said. “That’s fine, Bri,” said Kevin. “Just call us if you need anything, Kay?” “Yeah, sure. I will.” “Do it,” said A.J. “I will! Bye. See you all.” “Bye. See ya.” What was with me? That was the first time I had said ‘bye’ since I met Sara. I knew then how much she meant to me and how she had effected my life so much. I walked toward her room. When in there, I sat down by her bed and held her hand. “Baby,” I said. “You have to make it through this. If you don’t, I’ll just die. You don’t know how much you mean to me! I need you. I need you in my life always. If anything, do it for the baby. I love you. You have to make it.” They say when someone’s in a coma, they can hear things around them. That’s why I had to tell her that. I closed my eyes, I was tired. When I opened them again, I saw her beautiful blue eyes. “Sara! Baby, I love you! Your awake! Nurse come quick!” The night-shift nurse came into the room. “Your awake!” she said. “I’m going to get the doctor, then I’ll be right back.” She left the room. Sara tried to speak but couldn’t, because of the ventilator in her mouth allowing her to breathe. “Sara, don’t speak if you can’t. I love you and your awake, that’s all that matters. You were in a car accident the other day. You’ve been in a coma since. It wasn’t good, but now it is! I love you, Sara.” She said, “Uh lua ew who.” “What? Ohhhhhhh,” I said. It finally clicked. “I love you too baby.” By that, her eyes closed, I heard a buzzer, the heartbeat line on that TV screen went flat.
