Savage Garden took root when Daniel Jones, then working in a cover band, decided to place an ad in a local paper for a singer. Darren Hayes immediately answered the ad and the two hit it off. When the cover band broke up, Hayes and Jones made a decision to stay together, forming Savage Garden in the mid-'90s. Their first single, "I Want You," a palpitating Europop track, became Australia's top selling single of 1996 and earned the group a deal with Columbia Records. Their self-titled debut was released early in 1997. And it sold more than 11 million copies!!!! Plus they hit #1 in America with "Truly Madly Deeply" In 1999 they've releases their second album "Affirmation", and the first single "I Knew I Loved You" also hit #1 in USA!
