My Long Lost Identity

This was also written for a poetry contest for this year, but I still haven't found out if I won or not. *shrugs* oh well. :-)

Listen to my soul so frail.
Can you hear it
Whispering, pulling myself away?
This is not who I want to be.

I hear it call on a moonless night;
I feel its pain at the stroke of twilight -
Mourning, flying ever away from me.
I beg of you to set it free.

Have you seen me?
Where have I been?
How long have I last been with you?
I haven't found me since then.
Please let me not join the tide
Of those who walk aimlessly
Looking for their lost souls
Of who they should really be.
