The AALC Pregnancy Center would like to introduce you to a new program to begin in January 2004. It is our Earn While You Learn Program. This is an educational program that provides a way for our clients to obtain needed items for mother and baby during and after pregnancy.

The purpose of this program is to upgrade and enhance our client's parenting skills. You are probably saying to yourself, "Now what are they going to do?!" For as long as we have been in existence, we have been set up to meet the needs of our clients with gently used baby items from newborn to size 4T. We have faithfully helped with as many as 600 clients a year - including giving them our gift of the new mom pack containing many NEW items to say "Thanks mom for choosing life." We have not only seen an increase in client needs, but also many are repeat pregnancies.

It has always been our desire to offer more than a bag of clothes and a few baby items. We feel we have found a way to not only continue in that area, but by requiring our clients to "learn as they earn", they will also learn accountability as they make the transition into motherhood. It will give us the opportunity to develop better relationships with our clients so that we can help introduce them to our greatest parental example - Our Heavenly Father - who has all the answers for them as they continue on the long journey of parenthood.

Here is how the EWYL Program will work: the client (or husband/partner) may earn special "Mommy Money" by attending classes, support counselling at the center, or completing other requirements. When the client needs something, she spends what she has earned for items such as diapers, clothes, food, or furniture. All items are subject to availability.

Most items are used and new items are limited to one per client. We will keep track of each client by setting up lesson plans through a parenting curriculum offered by Heritage House. To learn more about the program, see their website.

As with all services at the Center, there is no actual financial cost. All services are free. Of course, we will have emergency needs and exceptions may be made under special circumstances.

You may be asking how you can help us get this program off to a start? We have been asking God to make the necessary changes needed and for Him to speak to the hearts of those that will help us to be able to purchase the much needed curriculum they are offering eight (8) modules with five (5) one-hour lessons in easy to understand language. Crucial subjects for expectant mothers and young parents are covered. Upon receiving the sample packet, we found these modules are valued at $49.95 each. Each lesson is written with the pregnancy center client in mind, and includes a short homework assignment with an answer key to reinforce learning. Some of the lessons require videos and/or pamphlets that we will try to incorporate into the program. The total cost of the curriculum is $1,018.00 We have some of the videos and will be able to save as we look at what we already have. If you want to help, please mark your gift EWYL Program. We will keep you informed with our progress. Thank you and God bless you all for your continued support.
