APPALACHIAN PAGAN ALLIANCE NEWSLETTER JUNE 2002

Editress; Ginger Strivelli

Hope everyone had a joyful Summer Solstice. In June the APA was making plans for our Vacation Witchcraft School. We also participated in the Pagan Unity Campaign's 2nd Annual I am A Pagan post card mail in to our elected officials in Washington.

Eldermoon where we held our classes and meetings closed this summer, and we have been discussing ideas for meeting places in the future. Our On-line daily discussion list and thrice-monthly meetings (on the 10th, 20th, and 30th monthly) continue to be our most active areas of member involvement, but we do hope to restart real) world meetings/classes/rituals at some point. We will continue to hold our thrice yearly gathering events, Vacation Witchcraft School, Yule Gathering and May Day Celebrations.

FROM OUR BOOK OF SHADOWS: this month we are sharing quotes to meditate upon:

I pledge allegiance to the Earth,
and to the flora, fauna and human life that it supports,
one planet, indivisible,
with safe air, water and soil,
economic justice, equal rights and peace for all.
(From the Women's Environment and Development Organization)

"O Art Divine, exalted blessing!
Each celestial charm expressing!
Proudest gift the Gods bestow!
Sweetest chimes that mortals know."
(The lyrics of the Winchester chimes)

"Look to this day,
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course lie all the varities and realities of your existence,
The bliss of growth, the glory of action, the splendor of beauty;
For yesterday is but a dream; and tomorrow is only a vision,
But today well lived makes
Every yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope."
From the Bhagavad-Gita

"The person who knows that enough is enough will always have enough."
- Lao-Tsu

"We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light."
-Plato

It used to be only death and taxes were inevitable. Now, of course, there's shipping and handling, too.
(unknown modern quote)

Lone Wolf Trail-
Before you follow the lone wolf trail
Be sure that this is known…
Are you one of the lone wolf breed
Or only a wolf alone?
The lone wolf breed is a silent breed
Making no howl or moan
But the wolf that bays at the moon at night
Is a lonely wolf…alone.
(poem by Don Blanding)
