Bass: How High Can He Go?

From Dotmusic: Lance Bass will fly into space despite the fact that the $20 million bill is still to be paid, a TV producer working on the mission has insisted.

Confusion has reigned over the N'SYNC's star's bid to become the youngest man in space in recent weeks, despite his continued training at Star City in Moscow.

As reported on dotmusic, Bass has been involved in extensive preparation for the flight to the International Space Station, which is due to take place on October 28.

However, it recently emerged that the massive financial outlay required for the trip is yet to be paid, with the deadline believed to have passed on Tuesday.

Russian Aerospace Agency spokesman Konstantin Kreidenko told the BBC: "We have a contract, but we don't have any money".

However, LA TV chief David Krieff insists three sponsors have already pledged between $5m to $15m each, with a "huge soft drink" manufacturer committed to stumping up a large sum of cash for Bass's mission.

Speaking about the comments coming out of Russia, Krieff insisted: "In my mind, it's a lot of talk and posturing. That is their style and I can appreciate it. This is 100 per cent going forward.

"He's doing beautifully, he's kicking butt in every way. He's totally dedicated and everybody loves him there".
