Rumor: Sarah Jessica Parker Vetoed Britney

From World of Britney: 'Sex And The City lead star Sarah Jessica Parker personally vetoed singer Britney Spears' planned appearance on the hit TV show. Parker, 36, 'threw a fit', according to American magazine Us Weekly, after learning of the plan to feature the curvy 20-year-old in an episode of the saucy American show. 'I worked too damned hard to get this show to where it is today, and I'll be damned if I'm going to be upstaged by a Mouseketeer,' a source claims Parker ranted, referring to Britney's previous TV experience as a youngster on The Mickey Mouse Club show. The source goes onto claim, 'When it was announced Britney would appear on the show, Sarah felt it was nothing but a casting gimmick. And she wasn't happy that a 20-year-old would make 36-year-old Sarah look like a much older woman.'

Pharrell Williams Dating Britney?

Rumour: Sunday People reported that BRITNEY SPEARS and BEYONCE KNOWLES are fighting over the same man - and taking no prisoners.

Both girls have been dating hunky star PHARRELL WILLIAMS - one half of top R&B production team The Neptunes.

A friend of Pharrell said: "He has been bragging about going out on dates with Britney. We were all really shocked, because everyone thought he was seeing Beyonce at the time.

"Both are pretty determined women who won't give him up easily - so there could be some fireworks between the two of them."

Pharrell met Britney, 20, when he was working on her new album and they hit it off immediately.

But that came as bad news to Destiny's Child beauty Beyonce, also 20, who has been seeing Pharrell for the past few months.

The girls were not exactly the best of mates before they became love rivals. They frequently fight it out at the top of the charts.

They are also both desperate for a new man after having their hearts broken by two-timing boyfriends. Britney split from N-Sync singer JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE after he cheated on her with singer TONYA MITCHELL.

Nelly Outsurfs 'NSYNC, Ja Rule, Usher At Teen Choice Awards

UNIVERAL CITY, California — 'NSYNC, Ja Rule and Usher are close behind, but with teenagers Nelly is #1.

The St. Louis rapper took a ride out of Sunday's Teen Choice Awards with three awards, more than any other artist. (Click for photos from the event.)

Two of Nelly's awards, Choice Single and Choice Hook Up, were for "Girlfriend," his remix collaboration with 'NSYNC. "Hot in Herre" nabbed Choice Song of the Summer.

'NSYNC's wins give the guys 10 Teen Choice Awards total, more than any other group. With two Choice Male Hottie awards under his belt, Justin Timberlake now has a record 12.

Timberlake's ex, Britney Spears, won her second consecutive Choice Female Hottie award and third consecutive Choice Female Artist award. However, as happened at the MTV Movie Awards (see "'Lord Of The Rings,' Nicole Kidman On Top At MTV Movie Awards"), Mandy Moore's "A Walk to Remember" performance beat out her "Crossroads" role for breakout performance.

Ja Rule won Choice Male Artist and Choice R&B/Hip-Hop/Rap Single for "Ain't It Funny" with Jennifer Lopez, while Usher took home two surfboard trophies for Choice R&B/Hip-Hop/Rap Artist and Choice Love Song for "U Got It Bad."

"I guess I need to learn how to surf now," Usher said backstage of the awards, which are voted on by fans. "Seriously, this means everything. This is an opportunity to know if the fans really dig you."

As if it wasn't clear enough, fans definitely dig Ashanti. She ousted B2K, the Calling and others for Choice Breakout Artist.

Meanwhile, Kelly Osbourne won a breakout award of her own, for female TV star. "The Osbournes" nabbed Choice TV Reality Show. Kelly's brother, Jack, was up to his usual shenanigans at the ceremony, sporting the same "F--- MTV" tie he wore to the MTV Movie Awards earlier this summer.

Nelly and the St. Lunatics opened up the show, which also featured performances by BBMak and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

"What I just did is possibly the best thing I have ever felt in my whole life. I had a really good time," Hewitt said backstage, where she treated reporters to an encore performance.

Other stage highlights included Jamie Lynn Spears threatening to sell bathtub pictures of her heartthrob sister on eBay if Britney continued to interrupt her presentation, and a man in a spacesuit, a stand-in for Lance Bass, joining 'NSYNC for their acceptance speech (see Bass Inks Space Deal As Russia's Partners Voice Concerns").

Before the awards, Pamela Anderson, Bernie Mac and dozens of others walked a red carpet that featured a rather interesting human backdrop — the dancer from Dirty Vegas' "Days Go By" video strutting his stuff.

Fox, which sponsors the Teen Choice Awards with Seventeen magazine, will air the ceremony August 19 at 8 p.m.

Tango Fatone: 'N Sync's Joey Fatone is Mark in Bway's 'Rent'

From Playbill: Kenneth Jones, Playbill On-Line

A new generation will discover Broadway's Rent beginning Aug. 5, when 'N Sync star Joey Fatone makes his Broadway debut playing the unsure filmmaker, Mark.

Fatone, a member of the internationally successful boy band 'N Sync, is expected to boost box office for the six-year-old Pulitzer and Tony Award winning musical by the late Jonathan Larson.

"Hopefully, Joey is going to bring in tens of thousands of new audience members who I believe will be converted to Rent-heads, who will keep us going for the next couple years," Rent producer Jeffrey Seller told Playbill On Line. "Girls who were eight [when Rent started] were not going to see Rent, but now they're 14 and they would go see Rent."

That 14-year-old demographic happens to be Joey Fatone's fan base.

To go along with the new face in the cast, there is also a new press opening, designated for Aug. 28.

Mark is the struggling artist who captures the events of his east Village friends' lives on film, Fatone will have the chance to sing such Larson tunes as "Rent," "You'll See," "Tango: Maureen," "La Vie Boheme," "Halloween" and "What You Own."

Fatone began rehearsals July 8. Full page ads of Fatone in Rent appeared in New York papers Aug. 2. He is scheduled to star in the musical through Dec. 22. About the famed work, which is loosely based on La Bohème, Fatone told the New York Times that "it's just a cutting edge kind of thing. It's nice to have a chance to play a character, not just be myself." The rock star also explained that he has wanted to star in a Broadway musical since high school and also thought about auditioning for Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

Concerning the lives of a group of friends in New York's East Village, Rent premiered on Broadway on April 29, 1996, following the tragic death of its young composer-lyricist librettist.

The original company boasted Anthony Rapp, Adam Pascal, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Idina Menzel, Jesse Martin and Tony winner Wilson Jermaine Heredia. The current cast comprises Manley Pope (Roger), Matt Caplan (Mark), Mark Richard Ford (Tom Collins), Jai Rodriguez (Angel), Karmine Alers (Mimi) and Maggie Benjamin (Maureen).

Joseph Anthony Fatone Jr. was born in Brooklyn, NY, in January 1977. The young singer worked at Universal Studios before joining the now world famous band 'N Sync, whose albums include "'N Sync," "The Winter Album," "Home for Christmas" and "No Strings Attached." Also an actor, Fatone currently stars as Angelo in the film "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." His other film credits include "On the Line" and "Longshot."

Rent plays the Nederlander Theatre, 208 W. 41st Street. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster, (212) 307-4100.
