Britney is Once Again, the Teens’ Choice

From BritneySpears.com: Britney won two Teen Choice awards at the August 4th taping of the show in Universal City, California. She won for “Choice Female Artist,” the highest honor in the music category, beating out Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott, Macy Gray, Jennifer Lopez, Mandy Moore and Jessica Simpson.

Britney also won for “Choice Female Hottie” blowing away the competition that included Lil’ Kim, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Rachael Leigh Cook, Christina Aguilera, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Simpson.

Rest For The Exhausted Britney

Rumour: Another stupid rumor from PageSix.com which asks: IS Britney Spears about to pull a Mariah Carey and take an extended vacation?

Music industry sources said the 21-year-old pop tart, still brokenhearted after the split from Justin Timberlake, is "exhausted" and wants to quit the music scene for two years while she reclaims her life in Louisiana.

But a rep for Spears said, "She is not taking two years off, she is trying to take six months off, and Louisiana is home to her."

According to one music industry spy, "Britney's lost it. She was really upset after she was booed in London and Mexico, and she's saying she is going to pack it in for two years.

"She's planning on moving back to Louisiana and living with her mother. She's tired of being under constant pressure to perform, and is exhausted and is still broken up about Justin."

Spears recently flipped the finger at Mexican paparazzi when they tried to snap her photo, and she was booed when she aborted a concert after just four songs. Her handlers blamed the early exit on an approaching thunderstorm.

The sexy singer also caught flack during the London premiere of her movie "Crossroads" earlier this year, when she showed up late and didn't stop to pose for photos or sign autographs.

Before Britney - who has homes in the Hollywood Hills and NoHo - headed home to Mama, she spent one final weekend partying at Hugh Hefner's Pajama Party at the Playboy mansion in Beverly Hills.

Pals said Spears is still obsessed with Timberlake and that she hit on Leonardo DiCaprio to make her former flame jealous.

A recent leak from her camp suggested that Spears and DiCaprio, who recently split with supermodel Gisele Bundchen, had a "secret date at her [Hollywood] house this Saturday." The Spears leak also suggested that Britney and Leo had met before: "They got on really well, so a mutual friend set them up."

But DiCaprio's spokesman - who coincidentally also happens to rep Timberlake - denied this.

"Leo and Britney were at the same event last weekend in Los Angeles," Ken Sunshine said. "They were introduced, said hello, and there was no further contact. That is it."

DiCaprio and his pal Tobey Maguire "had the pick of the litter" at the Playboy party and neither showed much interest in Spears.

Another music spy said, "She is desperate to hook up with someone who will make Justin jealous. She is 21 going on 9 years old, and just can't get over the fact that he has moved on."

Spears' rep declined to comment on her client's personal life.

Russia space agency says 'N Sync star must pay up

from Reuters "Russia's space agency said Wednesday it might scrap plans for 'N Sync singer Lance Bass to join an October mission to the International Space Station because he had failed to meet a payment deadline.

"There are a number of deadlines for the installments to be paid, but the first part has already been delayed. Theoretically, we can already dissolve his contract," Rosaviakosmos spokesman Sergei Gorbunov said.

Bass, backed by a consortium of companies rounded up by a Hollywood producer, has signed a preliminary contract but has yet to secure a final deal guaranteeing a seat aboard the Soyuz craft. He is already training in Star City, just outside Moscow.

"If Star City, where he has also not paid a large part of his training fees, decides to cut short his training, this would be enough to take him off the flight," Gorbunov added.

If successful, the 23-year-old singer would be the third fare-paying tourist to blast into space aboard a Russian craft, following in the footsteps of U.S. millionaire Dennis Tito and South African entrepreneur Mark Shuttleworth.

Both were reported to have paid up to $20 million.

"His backers have sent us a letter asking us to set back the deadline to August 9," Gorbunov said. "If they do not pay up on the 9th, I don't know what will happen. Maybe we will follow their wishes again, and wait again. But we cannot wait forever."

Russia's decision to accept Bass as a candidate for the third seat on the Soyuz taxi alarmed U.S. officials, who have expressed worries that the pop star may be ill-prepared for the flight.

Rosaviakosmos has said it needs Bass's payment to help it foot bills and service its Soyuz space fleet.

If successful in his space bid, Bass would wrest the title of youngest person in space from Soviet cosmonaut German Titov, who blasted off in 1961 at age 25.

Christina Aguilera Gets 'Dirty' With Redman

From MTV News: While Britney Spears is "not a girl, not yet a woman," Christina Aguilera is of legal age and ready to get down 'n' dirty.

In mid-September, Aguilera will drop "Dirty," the first single from her still-untitled fourth record, which is now scheduled for release in late October. The song was produced and written by Aguilera and Rockwilder (who co-produced last year's hit remake of "Lady Marmalade") and features rapping by Redman, a publicist said.

At the end of the month, the brazen pop songstress will shoot a video for the track in Los Angeles with "Lady Marmalade" director Paul Hunter, who has also worked with Eminem, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey and Lenny Kravitz. Aguilera's label said that Redman will appear in the clip but would not reveal any additional details.

Aguilera worked with a host of writers and producers on her upcoming record, including Glen Ballard (Alanis Morissette), Linda Perry from 4 Non Blondes (Pink), Eminem accomplice Scott Scorch, Eve, Dave Navarro and Alicia Keys, who co-wrote and co-produced the song "Impossible" (see "Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys Party Up For 'Impossible' "). Aguilera wrote or co-wrote nearly every song on the album. (Click for photos of Aguilera in the studio with Keys.)

"I was very impressed by the fact that she has taken the role of being a writer quite seriously and really applied a lot of effort and class in drawing from her own inspiration," Ballard said of Aguilera. "I think she's a wonderful writer. We already know she's a great singer, but I think we'll be able to add to that. She's a really incredible writer."

Aguilera worked on the album, which is the proper follow-up to her 1999 self-titled debut, at various studios, including Electric Lady in New York and Conway in Los Angeles. She's currently narrowing down the disc from 20 songs to a more manageable number. Leftover tracks will likely appear on B-sides and soundtracks, one of her representatives said. Other song titles may include "Beautiful," "Fighter," "Infatuation" and "Can't Hold Us Down," a rousing track inspired by the verbal abuse she has received from Eminem and Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst.

New Album + New Movie in 2003

From Britney Spears Unlimited: 2003 will be another big year for Britney. There was a Britney update on Entertainment Tonight about Britney Spears. She is taking the rest of the year off, and according to her publicist, there will be a new album and a new movie in 2003.

Designer thrilled with Britney

Teenhollywood.com: American designer Barbara Horowitz is crediting Britney Spears for turning her dream into reality - by buying her first batch of three-way T-shirts. The former modelling agent for Charlize Theron was thrilled when the pop superstar loved the stylish tops, which Horowitz makes from cutting up men's T-shirts. She says, "I had a roommate working as a stylist on "Crossroads" and she showed Britney my T-shirts. "I made a bunch of them and she took them on the set and Britney Spears purchased the first three tees that I ever made." The tops have become must-have fashion items for many teenage girls.
