Toby having a little rough edge to his ear that when I wiped with a
wet paper towel it separated and came off, and I
was worried about mites. Well, today he went to a new vet to be neutered
(my vet still doesn't know enough about gliders), and when she called to
talk to me about him she said she believed that he did not have mites,
that he had burned his little ear on the reptile rock I had in there! The
breeder had given it to me and said he needed to stay warm, and I had
wrapped it up in fleece really well, and painted Tabasco sauce on the
cord so he wouldn't chew on it. I knew that I needed to take it out now
that he's about 5 months old, but we went on vacation and he had to be
boarded and then with him being neutered I just hadn't wanted to change
his bed and upset him. So now the very edge of his little ear is gone
forever and I feel awful!! The vet also said that she's seen gliders get
burned even being under heat lamps! So, I hope this mistake will help
prevent others.
