Calvin and Me

I live on 3rd Beets with Justin Bolt. I while away my days as sports editor of Chimes and sports director of CVN while working part time at WBBL and doing contract writing for Sports Illustrated for Women.

This spring I am taking Latin, Sociology, Political Science, and Honors English.

Potential majors: CAS, English, double major, group major with History of Religion, possible journalism minor.

I have been both richly rewarded and profoundly frustrated with my experience at Calvin so far. Calvin's living atmosphere is often very stale and too many of its leaders reflect more of their culture than their Lord. Too many students and faculty members are merely going through the motions, oblivious to what can really go on at such a place.

Yet Calvin is unique not just to Christian colleges but to all institutions in terms of the people who walk its campus. Students ultimately do not learn from books, after all, but people, and Calvin has an intriguing blend of students, workers, professors, and guests who provide an education rich in flavor. In just one semester at Calvin I have grown much closer to God, but also very frustrated by those who obscure his light rather than magnify it.
