Autism Awareness

“Never doubt that a small group of dedicated people could change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
– Margaret Mead

Hi everyone, and thank you for visiting:

When I made this website, my hope was to educate people about this case and about James Bulger, a child who has touched my life profoundly and who I will never forget. Every day, I think of James and of all that was lost on that day, and I am reminded of just how precious our children are. The best way that I have found to honor James and his memory is to do all I can to give back to other children who are at risk, and I am hoping that I can count on others to do the same.

I have been fortunate enough as of late to work with children in an autism-specific preschool and first grade, and they are some of the most inspiring little beings I have ever come across. Autism is a complex neurobiological disorder of development that lasts throughout a person’s lifetime. 1 in 150 children in America today have an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In the United Kingdom, 1 in 100 children are living with an ASD today.

I feel that this is an important cause and encourage anyone who is interested to find out how they can get involved. To find out more about Autism, please visit Autism Society of America, Autism Speaks, and The National Autistic Society.

There is also a film entitled "The Horse Boy" that is currently set for release in the Spring of 2008. The film documents the journey of five-year-old Rowan Isaacson, son of British human rights activist and journalist Rupert Isaacson. Rowan was diagnosed with Autism at the age of two. To learn more about this unique documentary and how you can contribute, please visit the official website here, or view the Trailer on YouTube.

Thank you for your interest in making a difference in the lives of children and adults around the globe who are living with autism today.
