After Michael Howard's 15 year sentenced was judged unlawful, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that the boys had received an unfair trial. The trial judge’s recommendation of eight years was put back into place, making the boys eligible for parole in 2001. Soon, protesters like those shown here were rallying against the decision.
