THE KOMBUCHA MUSHROOM PEOPLE - BIOGRAPHY

The Kombucha Mushroom People are a five piece band from Perth, Western Australia and have been playing since 2000. Influenced by a wide variety of metal acts as well as other genres.

The band members include Ryan Peter 'KO' Crothers and Christopher John Witheridge on lead vocals, Brendon Anthony Capriotti on guitar, James Darth Parker Bass, and the low life thug himself - Christopher Reid Colley Esquire III on drums/hair.

They started out under the name of Metallica, but apparently that name had already been taken as they were sued of 26 million dollars. After playing tons of gigs around the world and having a multi-platinum selling album, they slowly got their money back and started getting their shit together. Not long after the completion of writing for the new album, vocalist Christopher John Witheridge was diagnosed with testicle cancer. Undergoing a lot of special treatment and therapy, he made a full recovery, although all of the band stress emotionally got to drummer, Chris Stanley Shoulder, and he became a heroin adict. He experienced a very long time in rehabilitation clinics, but was unfortunately unable to be saved. Another problem was that guitarist Brendon was hit by a speeding car while playing unsensibly in the middle of the road. He was forced to spend 6 years in hospital which meant the band would have to be patient.

So they were patient, oh how they were patient. Bassist Christopher Reid Colley even got a haircut (for a while). He also decided to take this opportunity to learn the drums, to take over Mr Shoulders position. Then they started recording again, but not for long enough when vocalist Ryan Peter 'KO' Crothers had his ear bitten off by some guy named Michael Tyson in a local boxing match. He was okay though and made a speeding recovery.

After their fair share of ups and downs they are now back on track, so keep an eye out for the little buggers.
