Come on – What a result!!! The white horse comfortably beat top of the table wannabes Walton Town 3-1 in a fiercely contested encounter. The game started with both sides tightly engaged in battle, with neither side really giving much away. Eventually the Whitehorse started to take control on the game and the first open chance falling to Catley. Oh dear!! Nevermind eh Shatters, when you finally manage to get one its going to be party to remember!!! John Barnes had two great opportunities both bursting through from midfield, but unfortunately failed to convert - sending them over the bar. It was looking like it was going to be one of those afternoons, as chance after chance came desperately close, but we just couldn’t find the net. Then the breakthrough came!! A neat turn from Weaseldick let him in behind the Walton defensive line who managed to cut back a cross for Pig to come running on to. A neat toe poke just infront of the defender came bouncing back of the near post, which in urn hit the back of the keeper leaving the ball wide in front of an open goal. Pig was quick to pounce making it 1-0 and we were well up for this!! They came back at us for the remainder of the second half with lankey bollocks becoming for and more frustrated at his inability to perform (he probably has the same complaint from his girlfriend), anyway I think it was more to do with the fact the our defence had them well sussed out!! Despite relentless onslaught for the remainder of the half and some magnificent saves from Steve the score remained 1-0 at half time. The start of the second half couldn’t have gone worse when just five minutes into the half a long looping ball was floated into the area. Blinded by the beaming sunlight the defence was left helpless to the on coming Danny Mills who headed home making it 1-1. But the white horse were having none of this and showed true character as with 5 minutes the lead was restored. A lovely through ball by chipie left golden boy with a one on one opportunity. The finish was up to his usual high standard with a beautiful lob finding its way home making it 2-1!!! This pissed the walton boys off immensly, probably coz they were just such bad losers, but even more probably due to all the jibes from the travelling supporters!! (Well done the Barmy Army!!) The game started to become really fiery as each proceeded to kick the shit out of each other (all in the name of football though). It wasn’t long before the game was put further beyond their reach. A flick on from Weasel found its way to Goldenboy, Goldenboy them threaded a pass through to Pig who was running through from midfield, Pig then shoots on his right foot…… Goal!!! 3-1 Whitehorse and were looking more in control and they did not like this at all!! The challenges became dirtier and dirtier (with weasel even getting stuck in) and their wining became in tolerable as two of their players found themselves with £7 fines. Chipie nearly made it 4-1 with a long range free-kick rattling of the bar. Eventually the final whistle went and a vital 3 points were awarded to us in our chase for promotion. The whole team performance was outstanding, me and Frank couldn’t have asked for more. Man of the match was John Barnes whose work in the midfield was pure class. Well done chaps!!! Top of the league here we come!!
