BROAD APPEAL BIOS FROM THE SCRIPT FOR THE GALA:

Our First SCREAMER ALUM Entertainers this evening
is a Lincoln-based singing group called, BROAD APPEAL.

The “BROADS” are Julie Enerson, Anna Hanselmann, and Laurie Lessman.

Julie Enersen earned degrees in Elementary and Music Education from UNL in 1986 and has taught in the Lincoln Public and Central City school systems. She served as Director of the Scarlet and Cream Singers from 1997-2001.

Julie has performed in numerous musical theater productions in Lincoln, most recently
in INTO THE WOODS and RAGTIME at the Community Playhouse.
Julie is also a member of the mixed quartet, The OK Chorale.

Anna Hanselmann graduated in 1985 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. While attending UNL, Anna enjoyed a four-year membership in the Scarlet and Cream Singers. From 1995-1997, she was the Director of Ogallala's long-running Front Street Review. Currently, Anna is a private voice and piano teacher in Lincoln.

Laurie Lessman received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre from UNL in 1985, and has been a private voice instructor in Lincoln since 1989. She currently is the Director of Education at the Lincoln Community Playhouse, and is involved with music directing for their Family Theatre and Mainstage Series.

Laurie has performed in at the Lincoln Community Playhouse, Pinewood Bowl,
Haymarket Theater and Nebraska Repertory Theater.

As the singing group, BROAD APPEAL, these three women charm diverse audiences with
their rich harmonies and seamless blend, as they perform the “Sounds of the Great Girl
Groups” and the “Songs of the Hit Parade,” from the years 1935 to 1959.
