~*Chapter 12*~
Two hours passed. Ali had fallen asleep leaning on Brian's shoulder while waiting in the waiting room.
"Kev?" Brian tapped him on the shoulder. "Yo Kev, I'm gonna go in to visit Nick right now." He glanced over at Ali leaning on his shoulder. "Would you mind?"
"No problem." Kevin got up from his seat and carefully lifted Ali's head then took Brian's seat because they didn't want to wake Ali up.
Brian walked into Nick's room.
"Hey buddy, how're you doing?"
"Gosh, my life is such a mess right now." Nick answered hoarsely.
"You're not the only one who feels that way, man. Me and Leighanne's break-up was painful and Ali's devastated and a complete mess." Brian said.
"Over me?"
"Who else?" Brian answered.
Nick looked down at the ring that Ali had thrown at him a while earlier and placed it on his finger.
The room was silent. In fact, the whole hospital was almost silent because it was 1:30 in the morning.
"So how did you cut your arm?" Brian questioned, breaking the silence.
Nick looked down at the floor for the longest time. "With a kitchen knife," he said quietly.
"Oh, no biggie. I do that all the time by accident... but the cuts you have are really deep."
"That's the thing, 'Rok..... it wasn't an accident." Nick said so that Brian could barely understand him.
"What do you mean, Nick?" Brian said with a serious tone.
"Gosh, you're gonna think I'm insane if I tell you.."
"No, I won't, I promise," Bri said sincerly.
"At first, I thought that if I can't be with Ali, then I don't want to live at all....but I can't do anything right, so I just ended up for a few cuts. Well at least I got Ali's attention." Nick said quietly.
"Nick!!! You love Ali that much that you'd hurt yourself just to get her attention?" Brian asked loudly, causing an echo throughout the halls of the silent hospital.
"Yes." Nick said quickly without even having to think.
"That's..er...disturbing, Nick, very disturbing. There are easier ways to get a girl's attention!"
"Ali won't talk to me for two seconds without screaming at me!"
"Well can ya blame her?" Brian asked.
"Mandy means nothing to me, man! Gosh, Why did I kiss her? That was the biggest mistake of my life! Now I gotta find a way to get back to Ali's heart (Author's note: Excuse my use of the title of Kevy's wonderful song. lol)! I have to, if it's the last thing I do!" Nick cried out.
"Well, good luck, man." Brian said, as he peered back into the waiting room, over at Ali, who was now awake, but crying hysterically.
