Chapter 1
*nat*
Well, here I am, walking down the hall to our apartment. No, Nick and I aren’t married... yet. We will be in about... gee a month. Damn. Time goes by fast when you barley have anything ready for it yet. Yeah, we invited everyone, we have everything done except for my dress and Nick’s tux. That’s where I was coming from. My mom, Nick’s mom, and Me. We were all looking at dresses. For the past three months that’s the only thing that I was looking at. God, how long does it take to find a dress? I mean I love this one dress, but then my mom doesn’t like it. That’s what is driving me crazy, I don’t know what it is but between me and my mom all we do lately is disagree about the dresses and dumb things. But Jane (nick’s mom) seems to like most of the things, but lately she’s been looking at tux’s for Nick. I wish I was Nick, he has mostly everything picked out because of his mom. All he has to do is go and try them on. Gee, don’t I wish that I was him? Nah, not really, then you gotta put up with me. Who complains a lot. But I think that’s why he loves me. I hope.
I walked up to our apartment and I saw Jamie and Beth walk out of it. Nick and I were supposed to watch Beth, but then my mom at the last minute found another dress for me to try on. I called Nick and told him. He didn’t care, I just owe him one.
“Hey Nat.” Jamie said as I walked up to the door.
“Hey. Hi Beth. Did ya have fun with Nick?”
“Yeah.” She said as she stuck a sucker in her mouth.
“How did it go?” Jamie asked me.
“Let me just say, how long does it take to find a dress. I mean I love this one. Then my mom doesn’t. And lucky me gets to go back tomorrow.”
“Hey, you better start to get along with you mom. You have only a month left, and who knows what’s going to happen to that dress.”
“Gee thanks. I know, I’m just ready to give into her right about now.”
“Don’t worry, you should find one. Or else you will probably get stuck with hers like I did.”
“Oh great, a yellow one.” I said as we both laughed.
“Well, I gotta go take Ms. Beth to bed. I’ll talk to you guys later.”
“Alright. Bye.” I said as they walked down the hall.
I opened the door and walked in and closed it. I then threw my purse on a chair and walked towards the living room, just so I can plop down on that couch and sleep.
I walked in and saw Nick on the couch that I was claiming, eating Mac and Cheese, and watching some sports show.
“Hey.” Nick said as he shoved more food in his mouth.
“Hey.” I said as I sat on the same couch and moved closer to him. I then put my head on his lap and looked up at him. He smiled.
“Tired? Long day?” He asked.
“Yeah, move the bowl. I really don’t want any food on me right now.”
“Sounds like you need some sleep. Really how did it go?”
“Gee, you heard me on the phone. I rather sit here and baby sit, then be fitted for these dress that my mom thinks are the cutest things, and me no.”
“Hey, then stick up for yourself.”
“I do. Your mom and I both liked this one but my mom no. Said it was to something.”
“Awe, poor Nat. just say I want this one.”
“You try. Your tux last time I saw one that you mom was looking at was all blue. I’m trying to get her to something like the maids, and or mine.”
“You don’t even know what yours is like.”
“It’s going to be white.” I said as I looked at the T.V.
“Boy, that’s so original.”
“Nick, we got the guests dressing up in Halloween costumes. That isn’t original. No.” I said as Nick looked down at me and gave me a smirk.
“I know it’s a great idea, that’s why we both sat down on our butts and thought about it.” Nick said as he put down the bowl on the coffee table.
“Yeah. We did that. Now why I can’t pick out my damn dress?” I said as Nick looked at me and just stared.
*Nick*
I stared at Nat. For some reason, I felt that she didn’t want to get married. I mean we’re both twenty, and maybe it’s to young. Then I had to ask her what I felt. I mean I wanted it, I just didn’t know if she wanted it.
“Nat?” I asked her.
“What?” She asked looking up at me and smiled. That slowly went down when she saw my serious face.
“I need to ask you something.” I said as she got off of me and sat down, she turned her body towards mine and looked at me.
“What? Did I do something wrong?” She asked.
“No, it’s not like that. Nothing like that. I just have a question that we really haven’t talked about.”
“Alright what?”
“Do you want this? I mean to get married?” I asked her looking straight into her eyes.
“Yeah, I want to get married.” She said picking something off of her shirt.
“No, come on Nat. Look at my eyes and tell me that you want this. Cuz I know that somehow you are lying or maybe I’m thinking to much into this. There is something wrong about us getting married and you know it.”
She looked at me, and stared right into my eyes. “Nick, I want this. I want to get married to you. You know that this means everything to me.”
“Then why do I sense something’s wrong with it?”
“Nothings wrong with it. Can we just drop it for now? I’m tired and I want to get some sleep.” She started to get up when I grabbed her arm.
“Nat, promise me tomorrow we will go out to lunch and talk about it.”
“Alright, tomorrow we can go out to lunch and talk about it.” Nat said getting up.
I followed her into the bed room and we both pulled on our pj’s and went into the bed. I pulled her closer to me and kissed the top of her head. “So tomorrow, I’ll pick you up from the dress place okay?”
“Alright, cheater. Just stay in the front and come at twelve. No earlier.”
“Alright. I promise.” I said as we went to sleep.
