Chapter 24

As we got out of the car, Nick ran over to my side and helped me out. I couldn’t help but laugh at him. He gave me a strange look, but then smiled. “I’m not used to this you know, let me be.” he said.
“Alright, but if it gets annoying I’m tellin’ ya!” I said. He smiled and brought his mouth to mine. Giving me a gentle kiss he put his forehead against mine and then smiled. “I love you, you know that right?” he said.
“Depends on what’s up your sleeve Carter.” I said.
“Just stand here for a sec.” he said and went off in the other direction.
As I stood there, I looked around and noticed it was the park that he used to take me when we were in high school. I started to rub my stomach thinking that we could take our kid here once he or she was born. As I was thinking, a pair of arms wrapped around my waist, or whatever was left of it, I turned my head and Nick’s was just inches away from mine. “Whatca thinking about?” Nick asked giving me a quick kiss on the cheek.
“About how we can have this little baby play around here.” he smiled at me.
“I know that would be just awesome. Come on, let me help you over to where we are going to eat.” he said taking my hand.
As we walked there, everything didn’t seem to matter. Nick stopped walking at a tree and I looked over at it. There was set up a little picnic, with two teddy bears sitting there. “This is so cute.” I said trying to sit down. Nick stopped me and held onto my hands looking me straight into my eyes.
“I wanted everything to be perfect today, so I umm. Have to do this once again.” he said taking out a little box from his pocket, and looking at me. “Nat, I did this to you a long time ago, maybe about two years ago? Anyway, I don’t think that matters. I want to ask you if you will marry me again. But this time we’ll do everything right, and I’m ready. And I hope that you are too, because I want to be there for this baby, and help you in two more weeks when I’m finally out of there. So Nat, will you marry me again?” he said looking at me and then pulled out the ring.
