Chapter 3
*Nat*
The next morning, I woke up. Nick and I must of fell asleep on the couch, cuz the t.v. was going and Nick was holding on to dear life on me. I love him, and I don’t care anymore that he’s like that. Like I used too. I tried to un tangle from his arms, but he wasn’t going anywhere. So I pick up the remote and watched t.v as Nick slept. I couldn’t wake him up, he is horrible to wake up. That’s something I know about him. Which is good. Since we both know that we want to get married just not... well... yet.
I was just watching the t.v. when Nick started to wake up. He woke up and started to kiss my shoulders. Gee he knows how to wake up pretty well. I turned around to look at him.
“Morning.”
“Morning.” Nick said sleepily.
“Sleep okay?” I asked him. Funny how we never have to well, say complete sentences around each other.
“Yeah, but you seem nervous about this. You okay baby?” Gee Nick, just say baby.
“Sort of. I don’t know how my mom is going to act to this.”
“I’m going to be there with you. Don’t worry, and if she does just lean on me.” Nick said as he started to hum the words to ‘lean on me’.
“Funny Nick. Pure funny. But I love you anyway. So what do you want to do before?” I asked. Then I saw the look in his eyes... maybe I shouldn’t of.
“Play.” He said smiling at me.
“You spend to much time with AJ.”
“Yeah, but only cuz I want to love you. Which I do. And then be able to love you more.”
“No, Nick not today. Okay?”
“Alright. I get your point. We could umm... talk. Or we can kiss like this.” Nick said as he pulled me closer and started to kiss me.
As we pulled apart, I looked into his eyes.
“I love you.” I said to him softly.
“Me too.” He said as he smiled. Damn do I love his smile.
“Do you want to go for a walk? On the beach?” I asked him.
“That sounds good. I just gotta take a shower.”
“Me too.”
“Hmm.. Never mind. You give me the worst thoughts girl.”
“Thanks. Sorry I can’t help them out.” I said looking into his eyes.
“Na, that’s okay. You need to think, anyway your no fun when you start thinking.”
“I know baby.” I said as I kissed him on the head.
I got off the couch and walked into the bathroom. I took my shower. And then I walked down the hall to our room, I walked in and Nick was just getting dress. I looked at him, and then I walked to the closet to get some clothes. I walked to the bed, and got dressed. I mean we are getting married it is okay to see this stuff. Anyway we did have that one time, which was wrong, in the shower.
We walked out of the apartment complex and walked towards the beach, hand in hand. I watched Nick who seemed happy today, at least for awhile, all of a sudden go sad.
“Something wrong?” I asked him.
He didn’t say anything just kind of squeezed my hand a little bit. Then he walked on to the sand and sat down pulling me down with him. He pulled me closer to him. And then hugged me.
“What...” I said when he put his hand over my face.
“Shh... just be quite. I want to hear the waves for a sec.”
I sat there and watched them go by. Nick put his chin on my head and we sat there. Watching everything. So peaceful and stuff like that. After a few minutes of being like that, Nick sighed. I looked at him, I guess I was worried about it, cuz Nick sensed it too.
“What I’m thinking has nothing to do with what is going on. So don’t worry.”
“Then what are you thinking about?”
“I can’t say.” He said and laughed a little bit.
“Sure you can’t.” I said and looked at him. He just gave me a look back.
He sighed again and pulled me closer to him. “It’s funny how we both know what’s going on in each others mind, and then when we want to keep something from each other, we can’t.” He said.
“So what’s on your mind?” I asked him.
“Well, I’ve known you for a long time, and you seem like my best friend, I mean really, but I feel as if there is something secret to Ms. Nat. Is there?” He asked me.
“Like what kind of secret? If your talking about any secret lovers, there’s only one left.” I said while laughing.
“No come on Nat, I mean something inside of you is killing you and you can’t tell me. Somehow I sense it.”
I looked at the sand, there was something, but I mean it was something that I couldn’t help, but yet.. I couldn’t tell Nick. No one knew about it except for my mom. “Like what do you want this secret to be about?”
“I don’t know, maybe I’m going to much into this stuff. “
“Maybe you are. Gee Nick come on. Think about it, we love each other, so there is no way that either of us are keeping secrets from each other.”
“Yeah. Now shut up, I wanna just listen to the waves. Close to you.” Gee someone’s in a bad mood, I gotta ask about that later.

We were now at lunch with our moms. I don’t know why we were even doing this, but we were. We all finished eating and then we were talking.
“So, are you two ready to get married?” My mom asked. She’s in a really good mood. Probably cuz we aren’t going shopping anymore.
“Umm... mom that’s something we want to talk to you about.” I said as I leaned against Nick for support.
“What is it?” She asked. A sudden look of concern was over her face, Jane’s too.
“Mom, we don’t want to get married, this year at least.” I said I look at Nick who was nodding his head.
“You feel this way too?” Jane asked Nick.
“Yeah, were too young. We need to maybe, get to know each other a little more, and possibly grow more together.”
“Wow you two have really thought about this.” Jane said.
“Yeah.” Nick said as he hugged me.
I just looked at my mom. A look of disappointment was over her face.
“Mom say something.” I said.
She looked at me, and then a sudden look of anger filled her face. “Natalie, you have to do this, I mean we looked for a dress, come on please! Just do it!”
“Mom, I can’t, this is something that has to wait, can’t we just push the date back another year?”
“No, you can’t, you don’t understand, because you don’t know. Just get married.”
“Mom, I can’t. I’m sorry.”
“Alright, fine. Do that. But I want you to call everyone. But first call your father. He is flying in from Paris, just to see you. Now go do it.” She said and threw her address book at me. I started to cry. I never seen my mom get so upset with me and then not say that much to me. Nick pulled me closer to him, and held me. His mom watched and then came around to where we were.
“Shh, don’t worry Nat, everything’s going to be alright.”
“Come on baby, don’t cry.” Nick said as he hugged me and rubbed my back.
“I.... I need to go for a walk.” I said as I whipped away my tears.
“Alright, let me go pay for the bill and we can go for a walk.” Nick said. I then realized that Nick can’t be there every time for my problems.
“I have to go by myself. I’ll be back at the apartment in a little while. Okay?” I asked him.
“Are you sure?” He asked looking into my eyes.
“Yeah, I have to go for a walk we can umm.. Talk about this later?”
“Alright. I’ll see you soon.” Nick said.
I walked out and went for a walk to think.
*Nick*
After Nat left, me and my mom left shortly after. I went home, even though I wanted to be with Nat and talk to her about it. But she needed to be alone, which I didn’t understand I guess it’s something for her more than me. I turned on the t.v and started to watch it. I was hoping that I wouldn’t fall asleep, but I did anyway. The next thing that I remember is that Nat was just kind of getting on me. I woke up and looked down at her.
“Hey.” I said looking into her eyes.
“Hey sleepy head.”
“Yeah, you wanna go to the bed?”
“Nah, we can stay here.” She said looking at me. She smiled.
“No, were going to the room..” I said picking her up.
“Put me down. I wanna sleep there!” She said as we went down the hall way.
“No, you just sleep on me!” I laughed as I pushed open the door and placed her on the bed.
I closed the door, and went on top of her, tickling her. She just started to laugh constantly.
“Please.... stop.... Nick! Come on... Please.. I’ll sleep here. Please Nicky!”
I stopped and looked at her. “Nicky? Hmm... I like that.” I brought my face up to hers and we started to kiss. Nice and slow. We stopped and looked into each others eyes.
I got off of her and laid down next to her. “Did you have a nice walk?”
She sighed and moved to the pillows. “Yeah. Sorry that I did that I had to think. About what was going on. I think next time me and you can just sit there and think.”
“I’m here for you any time. You got that?” I said.
“Yeah. Now let’s go to sleep It’s been a long day.” she said going on my chest and sleeping.
“You like sleeping there don’t you? Nattie.”
“Yeah, now stop moving. You were the one who taught me where to sleep on you.”
