Chapter 24
They both played a couple of games and Brian noticed that it really wasn’t helping Nat at all.
They continued to play and brian started to talk. “So what happened before?”
“I lost?” Nat said.
“No, with you and Nick.”
“I have a loss of words for that.”
“What made you so mad at him?”
“It’s not that important.”
“I can either find it out from you or Nick.
“Don’t go getting pissed off at me or nothing.”
“Okay, so what happened?” Brian said.
Nat stopped playing and sat down on a stool and Brian sat next to her.
“Well, yesterday I went to the dance. I was supposed to go with some guy, he never showed up so Nick took me home because Ashley wasn’t there which I don’t get why. Well anyway, we walked home, It rained we started to push each other around and we fell in the mud and threw it at each other. From there we went home well here and I told him I was going to take a shower so I went in and started to take it, and well Nick came in and we well... did it.”
“So that’s all?” Brian said.
“No, there’s more.”
“Go on. I didn’t like the last part of it but go on. I’ll explain the sin in that.”
“Well, we were on my bed afterwards and talking, Nick told me he loved me so I assumed that...”
“He wants to go back out with you.”
“Yeah.”
“I understand why your mad, but I think you two will work it out. I don’t the the idea of ex between friends, but I’ll ask Nick about that one.”
“Alright, thanks for making me talk about it.”
“I need to know. Up for another game?”
“Yeah sure.”
They played air hockey for another half an hour. Until Nick came in the room. When he walked in Nat’s smile went down. Even thought she couldn’t see him her back was turned she heard him.
“I’m going to drive Ash home now, Nat. I’ll be back soon. Okay?
“Fine.” Nat said. As she got up and started to clean up a bit.
“B, your going to stay for awhile right?”
Brian nodded his head as Nick shut the door and left.
Once Nick’s car was out of sight Brian turned towards Nat, from the window.
“Nat he cares about you. Even now.”
“I don’t know about that.” She said sitting down across from him.
Everyone had left and Brian and Nat just watched the end of the movie everyone else started.
“Then how come he asks me if I was staying around for awhile?”
“I don’t know, so he could talk to you or something.”
“No, because he doesn’t want anything to happen to you. Because he does care about you.”
“That doesn’t make up for what he said.”
“Nat, you know the saying sticks and stones?”
“Yeah,”
“Well forgive him. He’s one of your closest friends so do it.”
“I don’t know Bri. I’m confused.”
“I bet Nick is too.”
“Yeah he probably is. We’ll probably figure it out sometime soon.”
“Good now lets finish watching the movie.”
