Chapter 10
*Nick*
When we got in the car to go to eat, Nat started to pick at my car. AGAIN. I mean I love her to death, but my car? I looked at her as I started the car.
“What?” She asked as we pulled out of her driveway.
“Nothing..It’s just someone is acting strange.”
“Me?”
“No the guy behind you. Yes you. What’s up?”
“Nothing.”
“Something is up and if you don’t tell me I’m going to have to really tickle you. My only weapon against you.”
“I’m just worried about you and Brian.”
“What about us? I mean were going to talk about it, I forgave you, I will forgive my best friend.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah.”
The rest of the car ride was in silence. As we got to the restaurant I opened the door for her and helped her out. Then we walked in. We didn’t hold each other, I guess we really weren’t ready...yet.
We got in and saw Brian sitting in a booth. We walked up to him.
“Bout time someone came.” He said.
“Sorry, slow poke here took forever.” Nat said.
“Hey, I gotta do my hair sometime.” I said.
We sat down. I sat next to Brian and Nat sat across from me.
“So, you two look a lot better from the past few days, is everything back to normal?” Brian asked.
“Mostly, we still gotta go threw a few more strings but then were all good. Right Nat?” I said taking her hand. She watched as I started to play with our fingers.
“Yeah.” She said smiling at me. We let go of our hands and started to talk to Brian.
We ordered our food and then ate it. Nat was very quite it was mostly me and Brian talking about how bad he felt and everything. I guess after I forgive one its easier to forgive the other. We had just ordered our dessert and Nat got up.
“Where you going?” I asked her. Okay so I’m a little protective of her.
“Bathroom, wanna come?” She asked.
“Nah, that’s not my area.” She laughed as she left.
“So what’s the matter with Nat?” Brian asked me.
“She’s probably worried about us. I mean me and you. That’s what she told me in the car. How she was just worried about it.”
“Nick, she’s been quite all threw dinner. Are you two really okay? Or your just the one to think so.”
“No, were fine. I mean before we left we kissed. Played around. Nothing bad though I know what your thinking about. We just said we were going to take it as slow as we can.”
“Nick, I don’t think she worried about that. I think she thinks something else. Maybe she just doesn’t want to tell you.”
“I could ask her later today.”
“When?”
“When we go home. I drove her here so I have to drive her back.”
“Are you sure Nick? I mean I could go somewhere like the bathroom or something so you two can talk.”
“Brian, trust me she’s my girlfriend. I can take care of her. I’m not worried so why should you be?”
“She quite, she’s never quite when Nicky’s around.” He said making my hair a mess.
“Nat’s probably tired. Let her be. We both had a long week and I think we both need some sleep.”
“Alright, if you know what your doing.”
“I do. Trust me. Okay?”
“If you say so.”
Nat came back and looked at us. “What?”
“Nothing.” I said laughing.
“Nick, tell me. Is there something wrong with me or something?”
“No.” I just started to laugh even more. Don’t ask me why I just did.
“Brian?”
“No, your boyfriend is just a little freshed out.”
“Okay, maybe I should take you out somewhere where there’s fun walls.” She said.
“Yeah, come on Nat.” He said. Nat just stared at him.
Brian just looked at her and then back at me. Something was going on between them and I wanted to find this out. Soon.
Brian left a little later, I walked him out while Nat sat there and payed the bill. I’ll give her the money back later.
“Nick, tell Nat that I’m sorry for whatever. Please.”
“I will. But I think she’s just thinking about us. You know?” I said
“Sure, Nick you better watch out.”
“I will. Trust me I will.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Alright, we will both be at school, I’ll make her go.”
“Alright, bye.”
“Bye bro.”
I walked back to the table and sat next to Nat.
“So what’s the matter between you and Brian?”
“What do you mean?” She said.
“I mean you were awfully quite. I mean are you mad at him or something?”
“No I mean I just want to stay away from him for awhile.”
“Why? I mean I forgive both of you.”
“I know but I just want to stay away from him for awhile till I’m sure that everything’s okay.”
“Are you sure? I mean you don’t have to do that.”
“I am Totally. Anyway I want to go home now.” She said.
“Alright, but I’m not taking you home right away.”
“What do you mean?” She said giving me some strange look.
“I mean that I want to take you somewhere, somewhere special.”
“Are you sure about that?” She said.
“Come on.”
I took her down to a forest, it was overlooking the ocean. I stopped the car and looked at her.
“It’s beautiful.” She said looking at it.
“I know. That’s why I took you over here.”
“Aren’t you just the sweetie today?”
“I try to be, just for you.” I said.
“Awe.” She said looking at me.
“Come in the back. I think it would be better if I do this in the back of my jeep.”
“Okay, sure.”
We walked in the back of the car and sat down there. I pulled out a blanket and put it over us. I pulled her closer to me and then I kissed her on top of her head. We just sat there for awhile and didn’t say a word, I loved it a lot.
I then said to her. “So what’s really wrong with you and Brian?”
She looked at me and then looked back at the water.
“Nat?” I said.
“Nick, not right now. Please.”
Was something really wrong with her and Brian? I mean I did say that everything could go back to normal.
“Then what do you want to talk about?” I asked.
“Nothing, I just want to watch the water.”
“Nat, please there’s something wrong with my best friend, and my girlfriend. Please.”
“Nick, nothings wrong. I mean there is something I just don’t want to talk about it right now.”
“Alright, then we should talk about something else.”
“What’s that?” She said looking out in the water.
I turned around and got a little black box. I had it since prom, I was going to give it to her but then that stuff happened. “
Nat?” I said.
“Yeah.”
“I wanted to give this to you at prom but now I guess I’m going to give it to you now.”
“What is it?” She said looking at me. I handed her the box.
I pulled her closer to me and put my head on hers. She opened the box and looked at me. It was an id bracelet, with Nat, and the front and Luv ya lots, Nick.
She looked at me and she looked like she was going to cry.
“Something wrong?” I asked.
“No, nothings wrong, I just can’t believe that your giving this to me even after what happened before.”
“Nothings going to change between us just cuz of that. Nat, I really do love you and I’ll really forgive you for whatever you do. So you need any help putting that on?”
“Yeah, thanks. I gotta get you something now.” She said as I put it on her and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
“No you don’t. I will return anything you give to me.”
“Nick, come on you’ve given me two things about us, so I have to give you something.”
“Alright, fine. Something small.”
“Good.” She said putting her head on my shoulder and closing her eyes.
“No, your not going to sleep. We have to go back home.”
“No, I can just sleep right here, right now.”
“Well, I can’t there’s a tire right here, so please Nat.”
“Okay, okay. Lets go. Mr. I’m not so comfortable.”
“Shut up.” I said pushing her.
“Hey!” She said getting back on me and sitting on my lap looking at me.
“What?” I said.
“You know what.”
“No I don’t.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.” I said and we kissed. A real quick and short one.
“Let’s go.” She said and we went to her house.
*Nat*
We got to my house and Nick came in with me. I told him to stay the night just cuz I didn’t want to be alone. I think now I was back to the touchy feeling part of a relationship but right now I just missed him to much. We went into my room and sat on my bed, a few seconds later we kissed and that night we well...you get my point. I don’t want to tell you actually but it was something we both needed. I think.
