Stardate 52051.4 Beeg sat down to rest on the couch in his quarters and called up the security systems on his PADD. He ignored the large gash on his chest. While confined to quarters, he was forced to fight off one of the creatures by himself, which was difficult against an invisible foe. The wound was painful, but he had been in more than enough battles to know that it wasn't life threatening. While evaluating the security logs, he noticed that the energy beam the Goulavar used could be simulated by adjusting the deflector array, just in case the Wiansani attacked again. The only problem was that some modifications needed to be made to the deflector to allow the ray to be emitted toward the inside of the ship. Once Beeg figured out what he needed to do he contacted deflector control and found an Ensign to make the modifications. Afterward, Beeg thought about the convenient timing of the Goulavar rescue. It could have just been a coincidence they were nearby, but he still wondered if they could be trusted. He was reminded of a race close to the Pinx homeworld that staged attacks on ships, then came to their rescue at just the right time as a ploy to get on board and scavenge the damaged vessel for any useful technology. He knew it might be a longshot to say that something like that was happening here, but he felt precautions should be taken anyway. "Computer, patch me through to Captain Mason." The Computer chirped, "That is not permitted." He remembered that there were restrictions on who he could communicate with while he confined to quarters. "Computer, patch me to Engineering." "Engineering here. What can I do for you?", said Lieutenant Zeek, a Vulcan who had been on the ship for several months. Beeg said, "I want you to look at this report. It has the information on that beam that the Goulavar used, and the modifications to the deflector dish I prepared to simulate the beam. I can't help but feel that there's more to that beam than the Goulavar would like us to know. I would like for you to look and see what you think. It is my job to be wary of things even when I am confined to quarters. Let me know if you find anything important."
