skillet is a christian band with an electro-
industrial rock sound. when the band was
formed, it's original members (john cooper,
ken steorts, and trey mcklurlin) came from
various musical backgrounds (funk, punk, and
rock 'n' roll), and instead of chosing one to
base their sound on they combined them. as
john says, "it was a matter of throwing all
these styles into the skillet and seeing what
we cooked up." skillet's debut album was self-
titled (1996) and was followed by hey you,
i love your soul in 1998 and invincible
this past february. they have been nominated
for dove awards and hey you, i love your
soul was chosen as alternative rock album
of the year in 1999 from the inspirational
network. their invincible 2000 tour is
officially over, but they are still playing
concerts and festivals all over the country.
they'll also be starting a tour with bleach
(mentioned above) in august.
