A Day at the Ranch with Kevin Richardson

"You sure it's not going to bite me?" you ask, staring cautiously at the huge horse.

"This is the tamest animal we've got," the instructor tells you. "You've been standing there for an hour worrying about it... why don't you just get on her? You're the one who wanted to learn how to ride."

You look at him quizzically. "Give me another hour, and I think I'll be able to get on."

The instructor checks his watch. "I don't have an hour. I was supposed to meet my girlfriend ten minutes ago. I'll tell you what, how 'bout I go get Kevin to teach you how to ride?"

You smile at him and nod. I'd only pay attention if it was Kevin Richardson, you think.

The instructor walks away and you back away from the white mare, debating on whether or not to scream bloody murder. You sit on the fence, still staring at the huge horse. You find yourself thinking about your favorite Backstreet Boy, Kevin Richardson... his eyes, his hair, his body. You realize you're drooling and snap back into reality, almost falling off the fence. Your gaze shifts to the open stable doors and the guy that walks out, heading in your direction. You stare at his dark hair, his sunglasses, and the fact that his perfectly chisled torso is showing underneath his overalls.

You're admiring how much he looks like Kevin until the guy props his sunglasses on his head and you realize it IS Kevin Richardson! He flashes a smile at you and once again you almost fall off the fence.

"Hi!" he greets, "I'm Kevin. You must be the one that I'm giving a quick lesson to?"

You smile and nod slowly, still taking in the fact that this is who this is. I'm dreaming or something, right? you think. Kevin smiles at you and you think you're going to faint. Careful... don't do something incredibly stupid. Better try to impress him. Don't klutz out and fall off the horse or something.

"Well, let's get on then and I'll give you a few pointers," Kevin explains. "You ever been on a horse before?"

You shake your head, looking a little lost and completely forgetting you're afraid of the horse. Kevin pats the horses nose and points out a few of the particulars of the bridle and saddle. You aren't really paying attention to that; you're more or less thinking about how good he looks in those grimy overalls. The smudge of dirt below his left eye makes him even cuter.

"Okay, well, I'll get on behind you then and show you how it's done," he explains, putting his hands on your waist and helping you into the saddle.

Finally you get the hang of it, but before you know it, both of you are out of sight of the stable.

"This is so great," you say, blushing slightly. "I didn't know you ever came here."

Kevin smiled. "Normally I'm too busy to ever come by, but today I had the chance and I figured I'd help them with the chores and stuff. I mean, I grew up this way and I miss it when I'm not around."

He climbs off the horse and helps you down beside him. He takes the bridle and leads the horse while you walk beside him. You're amazed that he can be so normal, but you're also more attracted to the fact that fame hasn't gotten to his head.

You stop beside a small brook and Kevin lets the horse take a drink. You stare a Kevin's lips, not realizing they are coming closer to yours until he kisses you. This must be what heaven feels like, you think, kissing him back.

After a long conversation you both head back to the stable. Kevin gives you his cell phone number and you give him your digits. You promise to call him and head home before everyone starts to wonder if you fell off the face of the earth. Who could've imagined a normal day turning into the best day of your life.
