FOOD


The Eastern Woodland Indians ate crops that were grown by the woman.

They ate from seed producing plants such as; Sunflowers, Marsh elder, Goosefoot, Knotweed, May grass, and little Barely.

They had Beaver, Fox, Bear and, Mink.

The indians also tried Deer, heron and, Duck.

From the rivers and streams they had Scallop, Bass, Turtle and, Sturgeon.

Corn, beans, and squash were also popular.

The most popular meat is dear meat.

They hunted to get their food.

A lot of the hunting was done in Winter.
