What Districts do we need to discuss tonight?
All of them!
Over population in the northern parts of my district is causing a civil war over the land. The Muslims and Buddists are fighting for control of the same small peice of land.....There is flooding in the south, millions are homeless. Aid is begining to help rebuild, yet still outbreaks of disease are occurring all over especially amoung the poor!
A dreadful drought in Ethopia is causing thousands of people to starve to death. Nothing will grow on the land, it's simply too dry. Humanitartian releif from the N.A.E. isn't getting to the people fast enough. Young children in hard to reach areas are dying with swollen bellies for no good reason.
Preventable diseases are killing thousands of children and adults in South Eastern Asia. Ignorance and poor eduation is certain areas is forcing countless people into meger laboring jobs that endanger their lives and health.....It's wrong!!
Children forced to labor to help feed their families, brothers and sisters that will soon work aside them. Producing products cheaply to be exported worldwide and fatten the pockets of a few who hold all the wealth......Thank goodness this is the exception and not the rule of life in my district, but still is is an old practice that needs to be eleminated.
There isn't a whole lot of worry in my district. Besides the pending environmental sanctions not yet being meet what stands out to me is the secret ethnic and religous cleansing amoung people who pretend to be civilized. The greed and backhanded plotting is offensive to me.
The native people of my district have long had a history of destroying the Rain forests and robbing their ancestors monuments for quick profit. They have eliminated most of the species of Animals and insects that once lived in the forests and themselves. To their suprise the soil below the forest quickly lost it's richness after the removal of the trees and the land died. Luckily, with conservation efforts the new Rain forest seems to be striving and the land is slowly replenishing itself. Some of the ancient monuments are being conserved and still today studied. The artifacts which are mostly in private are trinkling back into their homelands public meusems and galleries. We may eventually have the whole of our history returned to us.
Violence is tearing much of my district apart. Lack of education is some of what is to blame, mostly it is the lack of good, well paying jobs. Crime is up. Inadequate housing for the poor and few colleges for the growing numbers of people seeking higher education is causing a swamping effect in the cities.
Tribal warefare is setting many countries afire. So much money is being dumped into defense and buying weapons that people are suffering. No one is harvesting the crops....they rott in the feilds while children loose their parents and become malnurished. Not only are the childrens bodies malnurished but, also their minds. Humanitarian aid cannot reach alot of the people it needs to help. Rogue sects are stealing air dropped supplies and selling them on the black market to purchase more weapons.
North Americans are losing hope....Polution has poisoned the land, the water, the livestock, the crops and the people for so long. Even with the O-zone repair technology developed by Dr. Zimmerman in 2032, restoring the O-zone layer to its preindustrial age density, the garbage buried in landfills a hundred years ago is leaking poisons into the water table. Radioisotope levels are still high in and around those areas affected by the nuclear bombs. All the horrific things of the past are still affecting the modern day North American States. (U.S.A converged with Canada in 2032.
