A DAY iN THE LiFE...
OF KERR SMITH

from BOP 2000

Sneak a peek behind the scenes of The WB's Dawson's Creek with Kerr Smith, who plays the series' mysterious Jack McPhee. In a BOP exclusive, 27 year-old Kerr, who also stars in the upcoming thriller Flight 180 gives you the goods on his love for Froot Loops and explains why he keeps dropping his pants on the set!

Well, the first thing I'll do is pull the sheets off me and get up on the left side of the bed. I'll basically crawl out of bed 15 minutes before I'm picked up for work. I'll take a quick shower, brush my teeth. I don't mess with my hair because 20 minutes later somebody else will be doing it, so what's the point? They pick me up in a van, which is nice.

I try to sneak in a quick breakfast at work. I'll eat egg whites and Froot Loops, which kind of counter each other. I try to be healthy, but then I sneak in the Froot Loops. Then I'll go into hair and makeup, which takes about a half-hour to go through the works. And then I'll look over the lines, if I have them. After that, we'll wait in our trailers while the camera crew gets ready and then we'll block the scene, rehearse it and shoot it.

I hang out with different members of the cast every once in a while. James Van Der Beek keeps to himself, but we've hung out, which is a lot of fun. And Michelle Williams is great. This year we're going to be working a lot together, which is nice! Katie Holmes is a good friend. Everybody loves her. We live in the same neighborhood in Wilmington, North Carolina now so we see a lot more of each other. Joshua Jackson and I are the most alike, so we go out all the time. Josh is really good about getting everybody together at like a family dinner. We all get together in a restaurant and have a great time and it keeps everyone close.

On the set, one day I could be mellow, one day I could be bouncing off the walls. I can be kind of a prankster. If things are not going well on the set and everybody's energy is down and it's a long day, I'll drop my pants. I've mooned the crew many times!

Every day is different. I could be there for four hours or 14. If it's not a 14 hour day, I'll go to the gym. If it's a heavy day, I'll try and work in a quick nine of golf later on. I'm not very good but I'm getting better. In my free time, I love to ski, although since Dawson's I'm not so crazy about it, because I might break a leg. I just got a jet ski, so I'm going to be hitting that up a lot.

I try to get in bed by 1 am. I need eight hours of sleep or I cannot function the next day. My day usually starts at 5 am, but some days I don't have to go to work until noon. But if I need to be at work at 5 o'clock, I'll go to bed around 9 or 10 pm. I've got to watch Seinfeld reruns first!
