#211 - Rev. Green (AKA "outside of the school") 12/16/98

29 CONTINUED: 3)

Pacey loves this woman His face says it all. He leans toward her, and they come together and kiss. Long and passionate. Andie pulls away. She grabs his paper.

ANDIE
You got an A. Pacey, you got an A. Can we just stop
the world and acknowledge that you got a friggin' A.

Pacey smiles. He couldn't be happier. Andie kisses him again. Both as happy as can be.

A30 INT. HALLYWAY - DAY (DAY 5)

Joey closes her locker. Dawson turns the corner, approaching. A huge grin on his face.

JOEY
What're you smiling about?

DAWSON
I just think it's amusing.

JOEY
What is?

DAWSON
You and me. We cry sex until we're blue in the face, and
when it comes down to it, it was just a few harmless kisses.

A beat. Dawson reveals some more.

DAWSON
The setting was ideal. The timing was perfect But
nothing happened. I don't even know exactly why.

JOEY
I know why.

DAWSON
You do?

Joey
Yeah. Same reason nothing happened with me and Jack.
It's not about perfect timing, Dawson.
It's about the perfect person.

Joey smiles at him pointedly. She grabs her bookbag and walks the other way. As she passes through the exit doors, Dawson runs to catch up with her.

30 EXT. School Day (Day 5)

The rain hasn't let up. It's worsened. Joey and Dawson take shelter under an awning.

DAWSON
hey Joey.

She turns. Awkward. A moment. They stare out into the rain.

DAWSON
I'm sorry about that little Abby tirade.
I kinda lost it and said some things I
shouldn't have, obviously.

JOEY
I'm sorry, too. I kinda got sucked into her whole meltdown.
I don't like it when we talk to eachother that way.

DAWSON
Me either.

A moment. They stare out into the rain.

JOEY
Here we are again...

DAWSON
... waiting out in the rain...

JOEY
I'm sorry about reading your script.
I guess readin it tapped into all
these unresolved... feelings and I overreacted.
I should have been flattered that you wrote about me.
-- but it just... hurt.

DAWSON
Why did you want me to think that you did it with Jack?

Ooohh. Big question. Joey thinks about this.

JOEY
I don't know... the same reason that you wanted
me to think that you did it with Jen, maybe?

DAWSON
That's not an answer.

Joey smiles slightly.

JOEY
It's the only one you're gonna get.

Dawson smiles slightly. Then, he turns to her. Looks her in the eyes.

DAWSON
I'm glad you didn't.

She nods. Agreeingly.

JOEY
I'm glad you didn't.

There's such an unbridled passion that exists between these two.

DAWSON
I miss you.

JOEY
I miss you, too.

DAWSON
And I don't want this moment to turn into some incredible,
maudlin, end of the movie sequence that ends in tears in
the rain but I miss you. It hurts not having you around.
And it hurts that you don't share your life with me.
Your art, Yourself. I miss being your friend.

JOEY
I miss you being my friend.

DAWSON
And I don't know if we can ever recapture fifteen
years of what we had but I'd be willing to take and
little fraction you want to send my way.

Joey nods. She feels the same way. The rain shows no sign of letting up.

JOEY
Maybe we could start slowly.

Dawson nods. That sounds like a good idea. A moment. A decision made.

DAWSON
It doesn't look like it's going to stop raining.
Should we make a run for it?

JOEY
I say we walk.

Dawson agreens wholeheartedly. They move out into the rain.

DAWSON
So what did you really think about the script?

JOEY
The whole, honest, cynical, bitter truth?

DAWSON
Yeah.

JOEY
I had no idea I was sooo mysterious.

DAWSON
Oh, you are definately a mystery.

She looks at him as only Joey can.

JOEY
I like the way you see me.

Dawson smiles. He takes his coat off and lifts it up over both their heads, forcing them to walk almost arm in arm.

The camera pulls back as the two friends walk through the world of rain that pours down around them.

FADE TO BLACK.
