Chapter 1

WWAAA!!!! A baby cried from the back of the apartment.

"I'll be right back." I said to my friend Zoe who was sitting on the sofa. I ran back to the bedroom were my baby daughter, Jordan, was crying her head off.

"What's wrong hon? Are you hungry?" I asked. Half expecting her to answer I paused, she just looked at me still crying, "Let's go get you a bottle." I said carring her down the hall to the kitchen. "I'm in here" I yelled to Zoe who then came into the kitchen to talk.

"So when's your flight leaving?" she asked

"8 tomorrow morning." I said

"Are you going to tell him?" She asked

I sighed and shrugged my shoulders. The biggest dilema in my life was about to unfold before me and i was almost positive I would chicken out.

"He has a right to know." She said

"I know but.....it's just really hard, you don't understand." I said

"I know I don't understand but....." she started

"Save it...I'll tell him, eventually." I said cutting her off.

She rolled her eyes in disbelief.

"I'll tell him...I'll tell him."

"Ok, Jillian you can do this." I said giving myself a little pep talk as I pulled my rental car into my parents driveway.

I hesitated for a moment then took a deep breath and got out of the car. I went over and took Jordan out of her carseat and we slowly make our way up to the door. I was totally dreading seeing my family again....I haven't seen them in a year. I had only talked to them about three times since I'd left and all they'd done was try to convince me to come back. For some strange reason I actually took their advice.

'Only for a visit' I told myself 'I'm NOT staying here!'

~DING DONG~

The sound of the all too familiar doorbell echoed through the house. I waited in nervous anticipation for someone to come to the door.

The door finally opened revealing my younger sister, Chrissy. When Chrissy saw me she started shrieking her head off, which brought a smile to my face. It was amazing how much I suddenly missed her

The next few minutes were total chaos. First my other two sisters came to the door and joined in the shrieking. I was bombarded by hugs then they took Jordan out of my arms and started oohing and ahhing over her (the poor girl had no idea what to think).

Then my mom appeared, "Jillian." she whispered

I ran to her and we hugged for what seemed like forever. When we pulled away from each other both of our faces were tear streaked...no wait tear streaked isn't exactly what you would call it...completely wet from sobbing is more like it.

During all the insanity my father had been standing off to the side looking stern and serious. He hadn't exactly been fond of the idea of my pregnant or my moving away from home.

Suddenly he smiled and held out his arms. I ran to him, sobbing harder now.

"I missed you so much Jilly." he whispered, "I'm glad you've come back for a while."

"I missed you too, daddy" I managed to say through my tears.

"Ok everyone, that's enough crying." dad said reaking apart from me. We all looked at him, shocked at the sterness in his voice.

Suddenly his voice went soft again, "I would like to see my very first granddaughter now!" he said picking up Jordan

I smiled, maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.
