Chapter 3

"Sweetie, have I ever told you that I'm afraid of planes?" I asked JC.

"It'll be alright. Supposedly planes are safer then cars." He tried to reasure me.

"Have you ever seen the movie "Final Destination"?" I asked.

"No. Why?"

"Nevermind. I'm just really afraid of flying."

"It's gonna be alright." JC insisted.

As we walked toward the way-too-happy-looking-ticket-taker-lady JC reached out and grabbed my hand. It was a small action but it was majorly comforting.

We got aboard the plane and got our seats and as soon as we took off I fell asleep...my theory was that if I was asleep I wouldn't see the plane crashing.

As a matter of fact I didn't expect to wake up at all, but I did...and when I woke up we were landing in Maine.

*****

"Oh...this is so beautiful!" I exclaimed as I saw my first glimps of our quint little cabin.

"And it's just for you." JC said kissing me on the top of the head.

"Thank you." I smiled.

The cab stopped and we climbed out and got our bags out of the trunk.

JC led me up to the front door. Once he got it open I started to go in but he stopped me, "No way, you can't just walk over the threshold."

He reached down, scooped my up in his arms and carried me into the cabin. I smiled, could he get any sweeter?

"I've gotta call home real quick before we do anything else." I said reaching for the phone.

I dialed my parents number and my Mom answered the phone, "Hello?"

"Mom? It's Jillian."

"Hey sweetie, I'm guessing you guys got there ok?"

"Yea. We just got to the cabin and I thought I'd call to check in. Can I talk to Jordan?"

"Sure..here she is."

"Ohhhh." Came Jordan's voice over the phone.

"Hey honey...it's Mommy." I said

"Mommy!" She exclaimed.

"Let me talk to her." JC said.

I handed the phone to him and he said, "Jordan, it's...um...it's..."

"Daddy." I urged.

"It's Daddy."

After a few seconds a huge smile came to his face and a small tear came to his eye.

"She called me Daddy." He smiled. He then handed the phone back to me, "It's your mom."

"Mom, I'm gonna let you go. I'll call back later to check in again."

"Ok, bye."

"Bye."

I hung up the phone and looked over to see JC practically dancing around the room, "She called me Daddy!" he kept saying.

"That's what you are." I pointed out.

"I know, I just never had anyone call me Daddy before."

Suddenly I started crying.

"What's wrong?" JC asked coming over and sitting down on the bed with me.

"I miss her. I've never been away from her for this long before."

"It'll be ok. Before you know it we'll be back home with her." JC said climbing up in the bed with me.

He held me in his arms and let me cry until I couldn't cry anymore.

*****

"Oh God!" I exclaimed jumping out of bed at 5 in the morning.

"What's wrong?" JC asked sleepily.

"I think I'm gonna be sick." I said dashing for the bathroom.

This is the part of pregnancy I remember all too well...morning sickness. Personally, I think throwing up is one of the worst things in the world and during the first couple of months that I'm pregnant, just about all I see in the morning is the white interior of the toilet.

When I could finally drag myself away from the bathroom and back into bed, JC stroked my hair until I fell back asleep.

It's amazing how much better it is to have someone there to love you when you're pregnant....even if it is the second time around.
