A FIREMAN'S LIFE

(Dedicated to the Wives and Families of:
Garry Sanders, Brian Collins & Phillip Dean)

With sorrow we stood and said our Goodbyes
As I watched the "brothers" all around me cry.
I'm sad that it took the fall of three men,
To bring this brotherhood together again.
Together we stood, side by side
As the bell rang out for those who lost their lives.
The tears kept flowing as we all walked away,
Each praying we would never have to relive this day.
The firefighters return to duty,
and the next firetone piercingly sounds.
They throw on their gear, and hearts begin to pound.
They attack the fire with force and vengeance.
Fighting each flame with tears of remembrance.
They climb back on the truck one by one.
Each feeling satisfied with the job they have done.
They return to the station and await the next tone
Another chance to save someone's home.
Giving their all, no matter the cost,
Praying each time there are no lives lost.
Their families at home take time out to pray,
For their loved ones to return safely at the end of the day.
Being married to a fireman, I fear for his life.
But I will always be proud to say,
That I am a fireman's wife.
