Silently Waiting
I walked into the room today,
All was quiet and bare.
I slowly looked around me
And suddenly felt you there.
I took a tiny step forward,
And then I turned around,
But there was no one behind me,
Yet your presence was so profound.
I strolled up to the altar,
And fell down to my knees,
Bowing my head so gently,
Asking "Lord, hear me please".
"I know it's been a long, long time
Since I have met you here,
But please, don't pass me over."
As I shed another tear.
"Just to know that You still love me
Would be joy beyond compare.
I know I don't deserve you,
But You promised You'd always care."
"Have You forgotten about me?
Or have I forgotten you?
I didn't mean to leave you,
I wanted to stay true."
I waited for just a moment,
With a tear still in my eye,.
And as I rose to leave this place,
I felt You come near by.
I reached out to gently touch You,
For I knew that You were there,
My Jesus, My Savior, My Shepherd,
You let me know You cared.
You put Your arms around me,
Held me close upon your breast.
Then gently wiped my tear-stained cheek,
And said "You stood the test."
"No, you had never left Me,
Nor had I forgotten you,
It's just that you had tripped a bit
And missed a step or two.
But now I'm right beside you,
And you are beside Me too.
You'll never be without Me,
For I have a job for you.
Just put your trust in Me, my child,
I'll never leave you alone.
For once you belong to God and Me,
You'll always have a Home.
