BENJAMIN ONEAL


Deed (Q-506, Wake NC) 11 Feb 1801. Benjamin Oneal of Wake County to Lemuel Cook of Wake, conveying 193 acres on the west side of Poplar Creek and running east to John Duck's Spring Branch and to Robert Traywick's Spring Branch. The land further adjoins that owned by Brannen. The deed was witnessed by Balt Fowler, Jo. Fowler, and Thomas Mial.
Who was John Duck? He received several land grants in Anson County. They are:
Grant # 6386, Anson NC, to John Duck. Ent 12 Apr 1813, Sur 23 Dec 1818, Iss 17 Dec 1819. For 76 acres adjoining his own and Preslar Lands. Chainbearers were Jordan Woodard and James Jordan.

Grant # 6391, Anson NC, to John Duck. Ent 30 May 1818, Sur 5 nov 1818, Iss 17 Dec 1819. For 100 acres adjoining his own lands and that of David Yarborough, Pistole, and "Charactors" land. This is likely Kiker/Charakker. Chainbearers were Stancil Duck and Jacob Duck.
