Last Will and Testament of John R. Thomas

In the name of god amen I John R. Thomas of the County of Union and state of North Carolina being of sound mind and Memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament.
first after all my debts are paid and discharged the residue of my Estate I give bequeath and dispose of as follows to my beloved wife one hundred and eighty one acres of land where I now live and all the rest of my property her life time or widowhood in witness whereof I have herunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the second day of September in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven

the above written instrument was subscribed by the said John R. Thomas in our presence an acknowedged by him to Each of us and he at the same time publish and declare the above instrument so subscribed to be his last will and testament an we as the teatators request and in his presence have signed our names as witness hereto
