I. James Love, Senior
Married Elizabeth and lived in Brunswick and Charlotte County VA before moving to Surry County NC. He died in 1799-1800 Stokes County. Note that Stokes grew from Surry in 1789.

A. John Love
Married Ruth Crook. They lived in Brunswick County and Charlotte Counties VA before moving to Surry County NC where he died ca. 1786. Ruth died in Stokes County.
a. Sarah Love
Born ca. 1760 in Brunswick County VA. Married 1781 James Middleton in Charlotte County VA. Removed to to Surry County NC and returned to Charlotte County VA by 1790. James died ca. 1798 and Sarah married second in Chalotte County VA. She wrote her last will and testament dated _____.

b. James Love
Born ca. 1765 in Brunswick County VA. Moved to Charlotte County VA and then to Surry County NC. Married Ms. Sabia. She was born in Pennsylvania. James [Jr.] administered his grandfather James Love’s last will and testament in 1801 Stokes County. His family removed to Martin County IN prior to 1820 and died there in the 1840’s.

c. Martha Love
Born in Brunswick County VA, Martha moved with her parents to Surry County NC. She married 11 Dec 1903 Robert Walker in Stokes County NC.

d. John C. Love
Born in 1784 Surry County NC or Charlotte County VA, John C. Love married 1804 Flora Campbell. John died 1824 and is buried at Love’s Methodist Church in now Forsyth County NC. His wife and children removed to Martin County IN in the late 1820’s. Flora is buried at Love’s Methodist Cemetery in Martin County.

B. Nancy Love
Married Charles Clayton. They lived in Brunswick and Charlotte County VA before moving to Surry County NC and later to Georgia.

C. James Love,Junior
Married first Mary Ingram. They lived in Brunswick, Halifax, and likely Charlotte County VA before moving through Surry, Wilkes and Stokes Counties NC. He settled in Cabarrus County and married second to whom we believe is Ester Belle Carriker. He died in 1821 Cabarrus County NC. The Children of James Junior and Mary Ingram Love are:

a. John Love
Born 1762 in Brunswick County VA, and while living in Wilkes County NC, John Love served in the American Revolution in place of his father James Love. John married 1787 Martha James in Surry County NC. They raised a family on Hunting Creek in southeast Wilkes County. The children of John and Martha James Love are:
1. John Love Junior
Born ca. 1790, John married Sally Fletcher in Wilkes County NC.

2. Thomas Love
Born in 1803, Thomas Love married Caroline Johnson in Wilkes County NC. They removed to Watauga County ca. 1838.

3. Ingram Love
Born ca. 1807, Ingram Love married 1823 Hiley Parker.

4. Martha Love
Martha married 1829 Noel Stanley.

b. Elizabeth Love
Born in Virginia, Elizabeth married Henry Shore in Surry County NC.

c. Mary Love
Born likely in the 1760’s, Mary married 1795 John Hagler III in Cabarrus County NC. The children of John and Mary Love Hagler are:

1. John E. “Sober John” Hagler
John married first Martha Polk. His second wife is named Elizabeth.

2. James Merriman Hagler
James M. Hagler married Eva Garman.

3. Charles G. Hagler
Charles Hagler married 1st Elizabeth. He married second Obedience Price.

4. Mary Hagler
Mary Hagler married 1825 Adam Garmon.

5. Thomas E. Hagler

6. Martha Hagler
Martha married 11 Jun 1834 John Sprinkle.

7. Elizabeth Hagler
From records related to the estate of Elizabeth’s grandfather, Elizabeth married William Hinson.

d. Patience Love
James Love and Patience Freeman were Co-Executors of the estate of Claiborne Freeman ca. 1798-1806. Claiborne is the son of Allen Freeman. Named for her grandmother Patience Berry, Patience Freeman is very likely a daughter of James Love. The estate record also indicates this Patience Freeman married into the Taylor family after the death of her first husband Claiborne Freeman.

Married George Reed, son of John and Sally Kiser Reed.

Married Michael Howell.

e. Charles Love
Born in the 1760's, Charles Love married Phareby Osborne likely in Cabarrus County NC. Prior to 1800, they moved to a portion of Rutherford County that would eventually become Cleveland County NC.

Born 1792, John Love married Rebecca Harden and removed to Gordon County GA.

2. James Ingram Love
Born 6 Jan 1796, married ca. 1823 Susan Putnam. James donated land for the Cleveland County NC county seat. His portrait hangs in the courthouse in Shelby NC.

3. Osborne Love
Born ca. 1800, Osborne Love married Jane Fondren and removed to Murry County GA where the 1850 census lists his mother Fereby as living in the household.

4. Elizabeth Love
Born 14 Mar 1800, Elizabeth married Thomas Wilson and settled in Shelby NC where she donated land for Elizabeth Baptist Church.

5. Caroline Love
Born 1802, Caroline married William Hamrick.

6. Sarah M. Love
Born 1804, Sarah married Levi Miller and moved to Georgia before settling in Arkansas.
