Chapter 7

Well, Zac and I told Taylor what Tara was doing and needless to say he wasn't to happy about it. Well, if you really want to know the truth....he threw a little hissy fit. He was outraged because he was sure that it would somehow get back to his parents and they wouldn't believe him when he said it wasn't true.

After kicking my dresser several times and throwing a few pairs of my shoes across the room he left to go find Tara.

I had never seen him act like that....neither had Zac. During Taylor's little fit Zac had been silently pressed up against the wall and didn't move until after Taylor left the room...and then the only thing he said was, "I am not sleeping in the same house with him tonight, he might go psycho again."

Taylor called me that night to apologize.....

^flashback^

"I'm really sorry for acting the way I did today." Taylor said quietly.

"It's alright Tay. I know you were mad...I've just never seen you that mad before. I just want you to realize the way you're acting because of Tara." I said.

"She just makes me so mad. Before she came, nobody thought bad of me. I didn't do things I wasn't supposed to. I wasn't a bad person. Then everything happened with her...and now she's telling people lies to make me look bad. I don't want people to think differently of me...especially my parents."

Taylor had always been the goody-goody of the family...and it was definitely something he was proud of. I used to hate him when I was little because he was always so perfect.

"I know, Taylor. But I think the best thing for you to do is just stop talking to her. Speaking of that what did you say to her today?"

"I asked her what she was trying to do and then basically told her to go to hell."

"Are you serious?" I asked laughing, "I can't imagine you saying that. Maybe she'll leave you alone now."

"I think she will...she just kind of looked at me like, "I can't believe you just said that." and then walked away."

| half-laughed and then Taylor continued, "Ali, I really want to thank you for doing what you did."

"I didn't do anything, Tay." I said.

"Yes, you did. You followed around Tara just to make sure I didn't get hurt. I really appreciate that." He told me.

"It was really nothing...Zac and I were just looking out for ya."

"No, it was more than nothing. I guess what I'm trying to say is that..." his voice got softer, "thanks for caring about me the way you did, even though I was too wrapped up in Tara." now his voice was just above a whisper, "I didn't realize until now that the person I really want to be with is you, not Tara."

I was completely shocked, the guy that I had liked for so long was finally showing interest in me? So why did I feel like I was just the *rebound chick*?

"I don't know what to say Taylor. I need to think about this, ok? I'll see you tomorrow."

"Ok, bye."

"Bye."

I hung up the phone. I really like Taylor and everything but I refuse to just be somebody for him to turn to because Tara's not there.

And who was I supposed to talk about this with? My best friend is Taylor's brother and my sister is a complete idiot. It's no wonder I have so many problems...I keep everything bottled up inside me.

"Hey, Alison? What are you doing?" Julie asked coming into my room

It was then that I realized that I was staring at a blank wall, twisting the phone cord around my fingers,

"Oh nothing, just thinking."

"Well, I'm going over to Sarah's house. Mom and Dad are fighting again and I'd rather not hear it. I just wanted to tell you where I'd be."

"Ok, I'll tell mom then."

Julie left then and I walked out into the hallway to try and hear what my parents were arguing over.

"If you would come home sometimes instead of staying at work all the time, maybe we'd all be a little happier!" My mom screamed.

"I have to work all the time so that you, Julie and Alison can go shopping and run up my credit card with crap." My dad retorted.

"We don't buy crap we buy clothes."

"Yea, and have you noticed the clothes that our daughters are wearing? They look like sluts...especially Julie. And I'm sure they're both sleeping with those Hanson kids....but you don't do a thing to stop it. As a matter of fact...you basically encourage them to buy the clothes that they do. Like mother like daughter." my dad yelled.

"You ass-hole!" my mom bellowed before slammed the door to her room (which is downstairs).

I burst into tears and ran back to my room. I had to get out of there so I called Zac, "Is it ok, if I come over and sleep in the tree-house?"

"Sure...what's wrong?" he asked.

"I'll tell you when I get over there."

I threw some things in a bag and slipped out the back door so that I wouldn't run into my dad on the way.

On my way through the kitchen I left a note on the table....

Mom and Dad,

Julie went to Sarah's for the night and I went to Zac's. Oh and, just to set the record straight, I am sleeping with "those Hanson kids"...all three of them. Hope that makes your day.

Love,
Alison

It was a lie but so what...it would piss him off...or at least I hoped it would.
