Chapter 1

"Why do I have to go?" I whined from the backseat of the car, "It's going to be so boring!"

"It'll be fun, Kasey." My mom said turning around towards me.

"Fun for you!" I yelled, "You get to stay upstairs and actually take part in the party. I get to go downstairs to the "kids room" and be with a bunch of morons all night."

"You will be fine Kasey. Now quit whining." My dad said firmly.

I crouched down in the seat and sulked. This party would be like every other my parents had drug me to. I'd be shut down in the basement with all the other kids while my parents joined the already drunk party-goers upstairs. They'd then get drunk themselves and I'd end up driving home. See, that's what i don't understand....why even though I'm 17 I'm still considered a kid, but there is no sense in arguing because they'd still lock me up downstairs.

The car started to slow and I pulled myself up to look out the window. The street was lined with cars and my father pulled behind one of them at the end of the street. My parents got out but I didn't budge.

Finally my dad opened the back door and ordered me out.

Slowly I inched out of the car and followed them up to the house.

The house was decorated in perfect party fashion...balloons tied to the mailbox, luminaries lining the sidewalk and streamers hanging from the banister around the porch.

"Well doesn't the house look nice." My mom said sweetly.

"Gag me." I muttered

"What did you say?" My mom asked.

"Nothing."

My dad rang the doorbell and a skinny woman with dark hair answered the door.

"James, Susan! Welcome to the party!" The woman said, "And this must be Kasey. You are just so adorable!" She gushed looking at me, "Come in you guys! Kasey I'll show you to the kid's room."

"Goodbye cruel world." I said dramatically.

"Kasey..." My parents warned.

I followed the lady down some steps to a door which she opened with a key and practically pushed me inside.

My parents were right behind her, "Have fun Kasey." my dad said.

"We'll be back at the end of the party to get you." Mom added.

"Please save me..." I started to say but was cut off by the woman shuting the door. I could hear her sticking the key back in the other side and locking it.

When I turned around there were a ton of younger kids sitting in front of a television watching a Disney movie. There were also a few older children sitting in a corner in front of another tv playing Playstation. I sighed and then moved over to a comfy looking armchair by the tv. I turned sideways on the chair and flung my legs over the side.

"Yo! Could you move your legs, babe? I can't see the tv." I heard a male voice from behind me.

I turned to see a guy who looked to be about my age with curly blond hair and crystal blue eyes staring back at me. "First of all my name isn't "babe" and if you ever call me that again I'll kick you so hard you won't be able reproduce. And second, you don't tell me what to do."

"Well excuse me. I wouldn't have to call you babe if I knew your name." He smiled sweetly.

"My name is Kasey Jones and you don't have to pull your little cute act with me because i see right through it." I said.

"You're not going to ask what my name is...like you don't know."

"Should I know?"

"Of course. I'm Justin Timberlake."

"And I should care because..."

"Because I'm from the group Nsync." He gloated.

"You mean that cheesy boy band pop group who sounds like a bunch of screaming little school girls." I asked.

He made a face, "No, I think you're talking about the Backstreet Boys." he tried to joke, "No really, you don't like any of our music."

"Is the pope catholic?"

He glared at me, "What is your problem?"

"You are my problem. If you could be any more stuck up your own butt it'd be amazing."

"I am NOT stuck up my own butt. If anyone's stuck on themself it's you." He then turned around and walked over to the kids at the Playstation.

God, not only am I stuck down here in this hell-hole for the rest of the night, I've got to put up with that idiot too.
