What does being in a "national" fraternity mean to you? First and foremost, it means you are joining not just men from your pledge class or campus, but thousands of men across time and distance who have pledged themselves to the same values and ideals. It means you have friends - brothers - at campuses across the nation who will welcome you when you travel, or if you transfer to their campus. In your hometown and at your work, you will no doubt run into Greek men and Phi psis and you will immediately have something in common - a shared experience, a connection with history - that will set you apart from others.
What do you get from the Fraternity in exchange for your initiation fee? There isn't a way to answer that completely, for many of the benefits of membership can't e measured in costs. For instance, what price would you put on a lifelong friend? How do you put a cost on a worldwide network of alumni or the leadership experience you might have as a chapter officer? Phi Kappa Psi helps make these things possible; the chapter is often the vehicle by which they're accomplished.
Phi Psi is its members - all the men who have ever been initiated and those pledges who seek membership. Together they provide substance, history, tradition, experience, and reputation - the character that is Phi Kappa Psi.
