Rebounding

Playname : Circle Box Out

1

This drill helps players use their body to box out a opponent.

goals:
the blue or offensive team trys to touch or grab ball.
the red or defensive team blocks out the blue team by using their bodys and rear ends.No hands are to be used except to touch ball.
Stay wide and low when boxing out.Low + wide =Power.
Make contact, don`t give up court space.
Give each team equal trys or time to run this drill, and the team that touchs the ball scores one point.Who ever scores the most points wins and the others run laps or a liner.

How it works:
Put players in a circle, facing ball,a jump circle will do.The ball is laid on the floor in the middle of circle.
The red team has to use their bodys to box out the blue team.Give them a certain amout of time to do this, then blow whistle. You can rotate the red/blue teams and let them all practice boxing out and getting around the boxing out opponent.
When a player reaches the ball, blow whistle and stop play. This is good with the younger players.

You can also have the inside players yell"box out box out" and outside players yell"rebound rebound or ball ball " during this drill. The kids like to yell during practice and I have found some want to yell during games,ball,ball..
