Dribbling

Playname : Dribble slide

1

The x`s are defensive players.Have them just stay away from offensive players about a arm`s lenght. This is good pratice for defensive slides and to learn to keep correct distance from offensive player.Have your offensive player dribble 2 or 3 times to the right, and then do a switch over and dribble 2 or 3 times to the left, and have the defense keep proper distance. This is not a drill to let the defense steal the ball,so don`t allow it.Just put some presure on the ballhandler.

this is done either full court, half court,or even sideways as diagramed.Make your players work up some speed, and have your dribblers stop going in a certain direction after 2 or 3 fast dribbles. Also you can do it left handed down, and right handed back up the court.
Tip for defensive players:
when doing the defensive slides, keep off your heels, stay on the balls of your feet, and keep your heels up,you move faster that way.Don`t be caught flatfooted.

Go across court and start over and then switch off.You also may have to match players up against each other according to speed, etc.
