Defense

Playname : Team Defense,Defending Against Cutters

1

Team Defense
Defending against the cutter.
A cutter is one who passes off and breaks for the basket looking for a return pass, like a give and go.

2

Here we see the 1 pass off to the 3,and go to the basket looking for the pass.
The defensive 1 "jumps to the ball" one step so he/she can stay in front of the cutter and
deny a pass. The defensive 1 keeps with the cutter untill the cutter goes for the 3 point line.

4

The other players rotate to fill the spots left vacant from the cutter.

5

if the 4 is the cutter, the defensive 4 does the same,he/she jumps to the ball, one big step and keeps cutter behind of her/him.This works great except where there is a great height disadvantage.

notice how the 5 player is pretty much boxed in at the free throw line.
