Hello !! You may not know me but on the web I go by the nickname ... GreenSuede ...but my real name is Debra. I am 31 years old and live in Asheville, North Carolina. I am 5'10" tall and have auburn hair that is past my shoulders and green eyes. I am also very fair complexed. Some may find me to be rather attractived, for I am told that often.
I am currently on the staff at a small, local private, liberal-arts college in a nearby town. I have lived in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mounatains of North Carolina for the past five and a half years and don't plan on moving out of this magnificent, cultural region.
I also lived in Black Mountain, North Carolina, for almost two years. The culture in Black Mountain was very strong there, with many small shops filled with arts-and-crafts from local artistians. Visiting these shops was something I loved to do often. Also something that made me want to persue my dreams. I am very interested in continuing my education at Penland, an arts-and-crafts school in Spruce Pine, North Carolina. Right now I am attending A B Tech, it is a local technical school in Asheville. I am studying Information Systems, and hope to aquire my Degree in the next 2 years.
There are many nice people in this area. I sometimes find myself in awe of how nice this regions people truly are. Once I was going to a shop that a friend had recommended me to go to and soon I became lost. LOL I was very comforted by an elderly couple who saw my situation and they happliy guided me in the right direction.
There are also many wonderful historical landmarks nearby that I find very impressive and very informative to this area. Many of my favorite spots to visit is the hiking trails on the Blue Ridge Parkway. While on many of my outings, I have come upon beautiful waterfalls and magnificent views of the Parkway. I have alot of fond memories of these outings. I recommend all who come to Western North Carolina to take hikes on these wonderful trails.
One of my favorite hobbies is making beaded necklaces and earrings. I have sold quite a few pieces and am currently mastering the art of wire-wrapping. I use all silver findings and only the best beads and supplies. I am hoping to complete a couple of show pieces to present to a couple of local Art Guilds and, hopefully I will be accepted into one of these fine Guilds. I am really wanting to be accepted into the Southern Highlands Art Guild. It is a very prestigous Guild for the area, and one of the best I might add.
I would like to take a moment and reflect on some of the best times I have experienced. One time in particular, I was on the Parkway with a friend. We went up to cookout at a nice spot.
From the spot we chose, we could see nine different ranges. Well the weather didn't permit for the cookout, so we just hung around until the most beautiful sunset in the world took place. The colors were none I had ever experienced. The wind blowing across my face. The sound of nothing but nature and and my heart beating fast. That had to be the most incrediable evening I had ever spent on the Parkway.
Another great time I spent on the Parkway was when my friend and I went down to see a waterfall. We talked about wonderful, dreamy things on the way down to the falls. As we grew closer to the falls we could hear the water beating against the rocks below. The thrill of being so close to a beautiful thing such as the waterfall made my heart skip.
When we finally reached the falls, I was in awe at how peaceful things were. The water seemed to stand still for only a second, as though it was welcoming me. The water was so inviting. I took off my shoes and stood in the cool mountain water. The first moment I stuck my feet in, it sent shivers down my spine.
I had never seen nature so beautiful as I did that day.
I waded in the water for some time, then found a nice rock to sit on as I peered into the water and looked at the rocks. I picked up quite a few rocks and to this day I keep one on my keychain. I made a wire wrap around it to never lose that precious memory. I guess I am a lost cause when it comes to nature. I totally drown myself in my surroundings. I totally lower myself into the moment. So maybe you can see who and what I am from what I have just shared with you.
Below you will find links to some of the things I have told you about on this page. Feel free to look around.
Well have a good day. Glad you could stop by to find out more about "me"!!
