The NiteStic Eddie Brown Interview

NiteStic Eddie Brown addresses the crowd in FWA Carolinas BS: First question, how did you get started in the business?

EB:I was a Police Officer in Hope Mills, NC at the time and was moonliting as security at a local show. I met Steve Corino. I knew Timber a little while before this. I had talked to him alot, since I lived across the street from him. I told them I was interested in becoming a wrestler.

BS: What are some of your early memories training with Steve Corino?

EB: I remember going to the place and the guys telling me I was going to be trained by (then) The 1-2-3- Kid. When we arrived there was this guy in a small office talking on the phone. He looked just like the Kid from the back. When he finished he stood up and turned around and I thought "Oh my God, 1-2-3 Kid lives in Raeford NC?!" That was my first of many ribs played on me. Training was hard but fun. Taking bumps on plywood, the ground and on wood and canvas is no joke.

BS: Memories from early days in Southern Championship Wrestling, including the Berkley Café shows?

EB: SCW was the start of Nite-Stic. It was a small crowd but they were hungry for some real exciting wrestling. I was going there on a regular babsis w/ Steve and the guys. Talk about paying dues, that was paying your dues. I won rookie of the year there and my indy career took off. I learned a lot from some people like Joey Mathews, Chris, Matt and Jeff Hardy, Cham Pain, Venom, Shannon Moore, Shane and Mike as the Serial Thrillers (Best intro.), Otto Shwanz, Juice, Debeers and alot more. I loved the locker rooms cause it was like a family.

BS: We first encountered NiteStic Eddie Brown in New Dimension Wrestling rings, what were your impressions of the group (its talent, ownership, direction) at the time and in comparison today?

EB: Where are they today?? I was the champ, still am the champ. NDW had alot of history behind it. Talent was ozzing out of it, granted it was because Rick Link busted heads left and right. I was the champ and Mike Gunner was the #1 contender. We had some great matches. I still think my best match was w/ Mike Gunner for the championship. I remember the finish was my mangers cell phone rang and it was for Mike. So I let him have it, in the forehead.

BS: From there, you continued on in Southern Championship Wrestling as well as many other promotions such as Asheboro's CCW and NACW of Shallotte, what are your thoughts on some of those groups?

EB:CCW was cool, alot of talent was there and still is I think. NACW ah, NACW some old names on every show. Nite-Stic beating the crap out of everyone there. The owner said to me on my last night there "You are just too good, I don't have anyone I can put you with!"

BS: You've done some work in the past for several promotions outside the Carolinas, fill us in on some of those experiences as well.

EB: I have been in New York with NWA, New Jersey w/ NWA I worked in Baltimore w/ MEWF. I have been to Pennsylvania, S.C., Georgia, Florida, Louisianna,Tennessee, and Canada. I am in negotiations now for a return to Canada, UK, Puerto Rico and a 2 week tour in Trinidad and the Bahamas

BS: You also play a crucial role in Carolina All Pro Wrestling, what were your thoughts on the benefit show put on last December and its outcome?

EB:CAPW only does benefit shows. I love working for them cause they truly care for the cause. For example they flew Tony Atlas in 2 days early and he went and gave inspirational speeches to kids at schools all day. No other fed, group or promotion does this for there community. Tony Atlas and Ivan Koloff also put on a wrestling seminar for all indy workers. This is the first time in the history of NC that an indy fed did this for workers everywhere and not just a select few or favorites.

BS: In FWA Carolinas, you captured the Heavyweight strap from Madd Maxx last December and since then have taken on some of the top talent in the area. What are you feelings on working Cham Pain in his return match?

EB: When I heard I was facing Cham-Pain I began to get confidence I could put him back into retirement, considering I was the champ. I then began to feel like I was the chosen one to be the first to share my ring with him on a special occasion. I was his measuring stic and yes I slipped on that same banana peel and he covered me while I was out. I tell ya, Luck sure does follow him.

BS: Recently, Corey Edsel has tried to establish himself as a threat to your championship as well, what are your thoughts on Edsel and the rest of the talent pool in FWA Carolinas? Is there anyone you're really looking forward to working with?

EB: Edsel shocked me a lot in the ring. I figured he was big so he would be slow. I have to give it to him, he gave me a trot for my belt. I just had to get into my game plan and execute it to perfection. I would love to give him a rematch anytime but not real soon. There is alot of talent in FWA right now and a lot more to come. I really look forward to working C.W. Anderson sometime or Steve Corino. These guys I have watched and learned from so I want to test my abilities and see just how far I have grown. I know that there is a lot of people who read this and say, "What is he smokin?" I want one and all to come and test me. I fear no man in my ring. Some maybe better but I am at the top of my game now so I have to watch everyone closly cause as you know I'm the man and now I'm the CHAMP!!!!
