I woke up at 6:47 in the morning for some ungodly reason. It's now after 11 am and I still have not gotten back to sleep. It's raining, I am catching a cold, I am bored and there's no indy show tonight. Time to break out the OMEGA archives! I am not precisely sure when or where this show was taped from, if anyone out there happens to have this information, drop me a line and I'll add it here.
We start things off with my hero and yours, Willow the F'N Whisp! Willow is taking on a kid named Will Powers, who upon closer examination kinda resembles a younger-looking William Wealth. Willow locks on a hammerlock, which gets reversed, he charges but Powers moves and Willow slides right under the bottom rope and to the floor. Willow storms back in pretty pissed off and goes to work on the left leg. Powers gains the upperhand briefly, charges the corner and misses, but attempts it again and gets it right, before scaling the top rope where he attempts a somersault plancha and misses. Willow climbs the opposite corner and attempts a maneuver strangely similar to the swanton bomb, but Powers moves. Back on their feet, they exchange chops until Willow catches Powers with a urange and a legdrop to the groin for two. Willow with a vertical suplex and then a scoop slam, which proves a setup for a split-legged moonsault, but Powers kicks out. Willow with a leaping leg lariat and then a reverse neckbreaker. He drags Powers to the middle of the ting and hits an Asai moonsault for two. Powers is being resilient, but not getting much offense in. He charges, but gets caught with a hot shot across the top rope. Willow catches Powers with a sidewalk slam and then a Texas cloverleaf for the submission. **
Caprice Coleman and Shannon Moore (known here as Ice and Kid Dynamo) hit the ring where Christian York and Joey Matthews are already awaiting them for tag action. Oh hell yes. York and Matthews have Count Grog in their corner and they stall for the opening moments until York locks up with Ice. York locks on an arm-ringer, but Ice counters it and then they trade hammerlocks. Ice with a fireman's carry takedown into an armbar. Ice scores with several various takedowns before York powders following a dropkick. York reenters and both men make tags. Matthews and Dynamo in now. Matthews shoulder-tackles Dynamo to the mat and then poses for the fans. They trade armbars and roll-throughs until Matthews takes over with a side headlock. Dynamo rolls out of it and hits what would later become the Bottoms Up. He follows it up with a backdrop, charges the corner but ends up on the apron, and then headscissors his way back in, taking Matthews to the floor. York enters but Ice dropkicks him to the floor as well. The heels congregate on the floor, but Ice comes off the ropes and Dynamo backdrops his partner outside onto York and Matthews. Dynamo himself follows with a tope. Ice and York in now, and Ice Irish whips Matthews into the corner, where he tags…Dynamo. The referee backs him up, so now Ice and Dynamo are the two legal men…that's a new one. They lock-up with Dynamo getting the advantage until Ice surprises his partner with a bodyscissors takedown. Ice misses a spin kick so Dynamo nails him with one of his own. Ice tries a botched up rana, but it does take Dynamo over. They get back up and Dynamo picks Ice up in a fireman's carry, then drops him into the corner in the tree of woe. York enters and eats a TKO from Dynamo, but he gets caught by Matthews with a DDT. Ice hits a spinebuster of sorts but both men go down after a double-clothesline spot. They both get up and each man tags out, so now York and Matthews are legal. They are hesitant at first and they share two handshakes followed by a manly hug before seeking wisdom from Grog. They lock up and Matthews takes him over with a slow-motion snapmare and goes for the pin, but York kicks out. They do the same spot with York taking over Matthews in super slow-motion to get over the fact that they're intentionally working light with each other, until Ice interjects and then they double-team him. Ice and York now legal and Ice gets a nearfall after a rana. York catches him with a whiplash powerbomb and tags in Matthews. They hit a double suplex but Ice comes back with a pumphandle slam and a slingshot senton for two. They exchange punches but Matthews gets caught with a falcon arrow while attempting a backdrop. Ice goes up top but gets crotched by Grog and Matthews and York hit the Rebel Yell (Matthews takes him over with a top-rope frankensteiner followed immediately by York's frog splash) for the pin. **1/2.
Cham Pain has a mic in his hand (as he should) and he literally bitch slaps ring announcer Scott Sullivan before doing his trademark mic work, directed towards Venom tonight. Marty really is my hero. Venom is wearing the trademarked GOD FEARS VENOM singlet, and this match is for the vacant OMEGA Heavyweight title. They lock up and Venom takes it upon himself to slap Pain, who takes him down three straight times with Japanese armdrags before he retreats to the floor. Pain comes off the ropes but eats a boot in the face. Venom takes Pain down with a side suplex followed by a slam and a legdrop. Venom goes for the splash mountain early, but Pain slips out and catches him with a DDT. Venom takes him down, rushes the ropes and hits an elbowdrop, then follows it up with a running splash. Venom hits a belly-to-back suplex for two but misses an elbowdrop attempt from the second rope. Pain hits a springboard bulldog headlock for two. He counters an Irish whip attempt with a cross-body, Venom rolls through, but Pain kicks out at two. Venom Irish whips him and Pain jumps up for a bodyscissors, but Venom just tosses him over with a waistlock suplex. Venom tosses him through the ropes to the floor. Pain jumps right back up, grabs Venom and drops him throat-first across the top rope. He gets two off a roll-up but walks into a clothesline. Pain schoolboys him for a two count, but the big man hits a snapmare and then a dropkick to the back of the head. Venom goes to work in the corner and then executes a Boston crab, but Pain does not quit. Venom with a fall-forward slam and he mounts the top rope but misses a somersault senton attempt. Pain drapes an arm over him but gets only two. Pain counters a tilt-a-whirl attempt with a beautiful armdrag. Pain comes off the top with a rana but Venom gets his foot over the bottom rope. Pain puts Venom on the top rope but he gets thrown off himself. Pain gets right back up and hits a top-rope frankensteiner for two. Venom charges for a clothesline but Pain ducks and Venom sails over the top. Pain mounts the top rope and hits the corkscrew plancha to the floor. Pain gets only a two count back in the ring. Venom catches him in the midsection and hits the V-Bomb for the pin and the title. Real good. ***
Mike Maverick and Shane Helms, the Serial Thrillaz hit the ring to challenge Matt and Jeff Hardy for the OMEGA Tag Team Titles. Matt and Helms start, and they trade takedowns and side headlocks until Helms surprises Matt with a rana. Matt steps out of a drop toehold and hits one of his own. Maverick enters but takes a backdrop as all four men are in the ring. The Hardyz hit double monkey flips and drop Helms on top of Maverick. The Thrillaz powder but Matt and Jeff come right out after them with stereo topes. Matt suplexes Maverick back in where Jeff drop toeholds Helms into his crotch. Matt hits a reverse DDT on Helms but Maverick breaks up the count. Jeff is tagged in and they hit Maverick with Poetry in Motion. Jeff slams him and then hits a nice springboard moonsault for two. Matt is tagged back in and reenters with a flying elbow for two. The Hardyz utilize frequent tags as Jeff comes back in and nails a swanton bomb on Maverick following a suplex from Matt. Helms breaks up the pinfall attempt. Jeff comes off the ropes but gets caught by Maverick with a chokeslam. Maverick drags Jeff to their corner and tags out to Helms. Helms with a Samoan drop and then three legdrops in quick succession, which gets the crowd on their feet. Maverick tags back in and just kicks Jeff right in the face. He follows it up with three elbowdrops in not-quite-as-quick-as-Helms succession. The Thrillaz make frequent tags and stomp Jeff around for a little while until Maverick locks on a reverse chinlock. Jeff works his way out of it but takes a waistlock suplex. Helms tags back in pounds on Jeff some more including hitting the superkick before tagging Maverick back in. Mav goes back to the reverse chinlock buts it's countered with a jawbreaker. Jeff catches him off guard with a rana but can't make the tag in time. Maverick press slams his partner onto Jeff, but he chooses to taunt Matt instead of covering. Jeff makes the tag behind the ref's back, so, as we all know, that's no good. Maverick measures Jeff with a power bomb. Helms comes back in a hits a flying fistdrop but only gets two. The Thrillaz hit a hart attack and both men go up top. Maverick sits atop the top turnbuckle and Helms leaps off his shoulders for a splash, but it misses, giving Jeff the change to make the tag. Matt cleans house and counters a double belly-to-back attempt with a double bulldog. Matt drops to all fours and Jeff springboards off his back with a 360 plancha onto both Thrillaz outside the ring. The Thrillaz attempt double backdrops but Jeff kicks Maverick and Matt catches Helms with a crucifix powerbomb. Both Hardyz mount opposite corners and hit the End Omega for the victory. Very nice. ***3/4. Thomas Simpson cuts a shoot promo on the Hardyz and says that if it hadn't been for him and his money, they would have never gotten the shot with the WWF anyway. He confronts the Hardyz in the ring and he takes an End Omega also.
Final analysis: Good show overall. The nature of the tag match is a little confusing with partners working against each other as if it kind of became an impromptu four-way for a minute there but the final two matches are both quite good.
