Datuk Dr Abdul Aziz bin Muhammad (1943-2000) In Loving Memory

Sidek @ Abdul Aziz b. Muhammad was born on December 9, 1943,during the Japanese Occupation in Malaya. He was the eldest son of Muhammad b Abdul Rahman and Zainon bt Omar, and naturally carried the hopes of a father who placed the utmost importance in academic excellence.

My father had told me inspiring stories of this wonderful brother of mine when I was a little girl, hoping I would follow his footsteps (but I became an educator instead). As a schoolboy, my brother received stern Mathematics instructions from my father, who would cane him when he couldn't solve Mathematics exercises. At the age of 10 he was admitted to the prestigious Malay College of Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) and was there until he passed his HSC. He was a top student and received a trophy from the late Sultan Izzudin Syah, for excellence in scholarship in 1962. In 1965, he was awarded the prestigious Colombo Plan Scholarship and was sent to the University of Adelaide to study Medicine. He graduated in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in December 1969.He went on to do his MRCP after his marriage to Nik Naimah Dato' Nik Hassan. He was blessed with 5 boys and 4 girls (1 died). He used to teach Medicine student of UKM and was posted in Klang Hospital. Later, he was transferred to Kota Bharu where he worked until the time of his death.

As a brother, he was our role model, everybody was (and still is) in awe of him. He might have a fiery temper, but his heart was pure, and he was a dedicated doctor who thought nothing of glory or recognition (unlike some other doctors). I respect him very much, however, I couldnt be what he was, but i try to excel in the field I am now.

May Allah bless his soul, and may he rest in peace
