THE Concert of a LIFETIME!!!
Okay....are you ready?!?! These are two letters I wrote to some friends the day of and the day after THE concert. The first letter is about when I went to the bookstore to meet them that day...the second, about the concert that night.
I'm gonna give you a little preface, if that's what you wanna call it, before you read these letters. I had waited SO INCREDIBLY LONG to see my Jar boys in concert...I could've died from anxiety! I was so ecstatic about seeing them from the THIRD ROW that that's all I could think about for months. I often got on peoples nerves just a little too much...^_^; And then the day came...I had everything planned out, from when I was gonna leave to what pair of underwear I was wearing that day...

Hey everybody! I'm just here to remind you all that I'm going to my VERY FIRST Jars of Clay concert tonight!!! WOOLOOLOO!!! I'm bringing in the New Year with JARS!!!! WAHOO!!! It is gonna be kickin! And I'll be sure to tell you all about it! But I must inform you of what has happened today so far!
I found out last night that the Jars were gonna be at a bookstore here in town and were gonna be signing in stuff, so I decided I was gonna go! (go figure huh?) Well, I got there right when they were supposed to come out, but they were running late, so I aimlessly wandered around this really big store. I finally found a friend of mine after listening to "everything in between", and we started talking (it was my friend merissa and her friend, and the
friends mom). They thought that it was so cute that i had brought some bags of tea to give the guys, and they liked my jars of clay shirt which i made [this morning], it had some misc. stuff on the front and the top five reasons I'm a jar head on the back. Well, the mom was like, "You have got to show them your shirt!". I didn't really know so, I kinda changed the subject. Then a voice came over the intercome and said "Jars of Clay is now in the
building", so i bolted to the line. The mom was behind me and told me my pulse was racing cuz I kept jumping up and down out of excitement. She said again, "You have GOT to show them your shirt! I'm gonna make sure you do!" and i'm glad she did!!! When I got to the table, the order was Matt, Charlie, Dan, and Steve (BTW, Matt has a gotee, Charlie's got dark hair, Dan had red hair, and Steve was back to short and brown). I got Matt and Charlie to sign
the letter in my Much Afraid CD about seatbelt tuba, and they were like, "whoa seatbelt tuba, good job" and then, when I was about to go to Dan, the mom says, you guys have got to see her t-shirt, so they read a little off the front (they picked out WOOLOOLOO!!! and jArSfReEk...hehe) and I turned around and showed them the top five list (5. You develop numerous nicknames pertaining to Jars. ex. Homejar, jArSfReEk, girl on a string... 4. You keep a
picture of jars on your school notebook. 3. You dedicate a web page to the jars: https://www.angelfire.com/nc/jArSfReEk/jArS.html 2. You sing Flood at your school talent show. and 1. You spend your Thursday morning making this t-shirt!) The thought it was kewl!!!! I spazzed inside!! Charlie was like, "You win for biggest fan!" and i was like "OH WOW!" and
they were like, do we have anything to give her? Dan was like "I have a cup of ginger ale!?"But i was just happy enough! So i went through the line, talked a bit to Dan, and then I got to Steve (:::sigh:::) and i gave him the tea and a letter I wrote them. They were like, "Tea! Dan's the tea man!". And I talked to Steve for a minute, and then Matt was like, "Katie, I don't need this anymore, you can have it." and he handed me is old All Access
Pass!!! AAAHH! I was seriously happy! And I told them that if they saw a girl tonight with a poster that says, "Can I sing With you?" that it was me! And they thought it was so funny! I also to them about singing Flood at school, and they thought it was awesome! WOOLOOLOO!!! I told Steve it was nice meeting him, and he asked my name (::sigh::) and he said, it was nice meeting you Katie. And I shook his hand! YAY! (sorry, I'm just a tad excited!). And
that was my Jars adventure! I got their autographs, Matt's old all access pass for biggest fan there, and shook Steve's hand! It's been a good day! And it's not over yet!
Peace, Luv, and Jars!

WoW you guys! Last night was sooo awesome!!! It kicked serious boo-tay! Things were the best I could imagine! Well almost, but we'll get to that. When we got there, we just kinda waited around for a while after buying our stuff, and we didn't realize how CLOSE we were! It was kickin! And after waiting for what
seemed like FOREVER, the lights turned off, and Silage came on! WOOHOO! They were kickin! A bunch of people went up front (myself included) and were just having a good time, but the security gaurds made us go back! Grr! But anyways...They played some awesome stuff. My favorite song of theirs "Ketchup is Mustard" was second or third in the line up and I died when Steve and Charlie walked out with their saxes!!! They were awesome! I kept screaming "GO
STEVE!" and stuff like that. Hehe! Silage went on to play "Drop Some Names", "Walks and Strolls", "Billboards", "Credit Card", "Great Alaskan Ninja", and just a few other ones i don't really remember, or maybe I didn't know them in the first place! Who knows! But it was all good! Sumthin that was so KEWL was that a bunch of people (myself included) went up front and just started getting hyper and dancing and stuff, it was so fun! But the seelee
gaurds made us go back to our seats. The lead singer wanted people up there, and one guy started to do it, but the gaurd like, stopped him and made him go behind these people, and the lead singer mouthed to the guy that he was sorry! At one point, the lead singer started talking about how on New Year's Eve, you wanna have things timed just right so you can do the countdown and all, and that means that the opening act has to play through all their
time, but they were out of stuff! So, the crowd started screaming songs they wanted to hear, and they just listened for a minute, and finally started to play one song, but I don't know what song it was. It was pretty kickin' though! And they left the stage and we had a long intermission. Then, FINALLY, the lights went out, and JARS came out! It was so awesome! They started off with a little medley of sorts of "Like a Child", "Worlds Apart", and
"Love Song for a Saviour". It was just the four Jars, all of them were up front, and Charlie was playing his accordian!!! Then, Aaron and Scott came out and kicked into "Liquid" and I could tell whether it was Steve or Matt, but I think it was Matt, and he just goes "OOOOH YEAH" in a voice like the chef on southpark! It was so cute! They went through, and they didn't talk much, I expected that because they always say in interviews and stuff that the
save the talking for introducing the songs and stuff. They played that song "We're gonna party like it's 1999!" and it was kickin'! They have these lights set up and stuff, it was so retroish! They went on and played "Truce" and some other songs. Then Dan started talking about that the next song was about being overjoyed. He was talking about how everything he has is just temporary, and he asked, "what happens when I can't sing anymore? " and then he
chuckled "Not like I could anyway!" and you could tell we disagreed! And he went on saying that everything he is, is because of the person who makes him whole, who is the greatest. He asked who it was, and we all screamed "JESUS!" and he was like, "no, it's my grandfather." and everybody laughed. And he was like, "not really, you're right" and went into the song. It was beautiful. I never really like that song as much until then. I look at it so
differently now! But the night progressed onward, and things were awesome. We kept screaming for the coffee song, but Steve looked at Dan and said, "Ok, how 'bout we do it in the year 1999?" and we like that idea, so we left them alone. They played a new song called "Grace" and it was awesome! At one point Dan asked, "have y'all see the Prince of Egypt?" and he explained to is that they were approached to write a song inspired by the movie, and they
played "Everything in Between". Then, the guys started talking about the south and that North Carolina is a great place to be. And that this was the place to go for sweet tea! (I started getting excited cuz I thought that they might be referring to me giving them the tea that afternoon, so I yelled out, "How'd you like your tea?" but htey didn't hear me :( ) And they started to play the Dukes of Hazard theme song, and when they got to the second
verse, they said they couldn't remember the words, so they got two OTHER girls to go up and sing it. (I could have died right then and there, I was devestated cuz Steve had told me that afternoon to work on that song...) After they sang it, they got to bust a little Buddy Lee pinata. One girl nailed the thing, and it almost hit Matt! Dan was like, we usually have a new years beating in the band, but we THOUGHT we'd let it go this year! Then he said,
it's not rock n roll without somebody getting hurt! It was pretty spiffy. They guys played one more song after that, thanked us, and walked off the stage. We were all SCREAMING "FLOOD! FLOOD!", and the came back out! They got ready to play, and Steve said, "We don't remember how to play that one" and "Oh! Weren't you paying attention? We played it earlier" and they started talking again. And they said Steve had a joke to tell. And they started
playing "Take me home country roads". I love that song! And somebody told Steve that they were about to start the countdown. And we counted down from twenty, and while the jars were scrambled to get sumthin, and when we got to ZERO, everybody screamed "HAPPY NEW YEAR!" and they jars bombarded us with silly string!!! It was kewl! We all calmed down and they performed "Hymn" and then kinda stopped at the end and went into "FLOOD"! It was sooo awesome!
People had rushed to the front for the encore, and when "Flood" came on, I really think that 85% of the people there (the cool ones anyway! hehe, sorry...had to say that cuz some people were fuddy duddys and wouldn't do anything but sit) were up and jumping! It was the greatest part probably! (Except when Matt and Steve smiled at me...:::sigh:::) So inevitably, this was THE greatest concert I've been to! JARS RULE BAYBEE!!!!
Peace, Luv, and JARS!!!
