Clara Growing Up

The above picture is of me as a child (that is me on my father's mothers lap). In this picture you will see my grandfather and grandmother(father's dad and mother), my parents and older sister. My grandparents on my father's side were interesting. My grandfather was a carpenter and my grandmother a homemaker most of the time.

This is a picture of my mother's parents. That is me sitting on my grandmothers lap with my sister standing to the left. My grandparents are from Russia. During world war two they fled Russia along with my mother and her sister(my aunt). My grandfather was from a very wealthy family in Russia but the revolution forced them to give up what they owned and go into hiding. That is where my grandfather met my grandmother. My grandmother worked in the Russian circus. It was a true love match but being my grandfather was used to being waited on in his growing years...he found that many of the day to day functions he passed on to my grandmother. My grandmother was an extreamly loving lady...if I was to say I had a favorite among my grandparents...she would be the one. I just wished I could have known them better but distance went against that...a deep regret I have not being around them more. An interesting fact is that when my mother found out that I read Tarot cards...she informed me that her mother, my grandmother, also used to read the cards. I was very surprised to learn this.

Note: Though I was named after my father's mother...I feel I am more like my grandmother on my mother's side...and in many ways my sister is like my grandmother on my father's side...but this is just my opinion here

We had a Charlie Brown Christmas tree almost ever year. The poor littly scrawnie tree...the ornaments almost broke the branches every year. My father would wait in those years till the trees got discounted so he could pick up a trees cheep...and most times they were the trees no one wanted or were dry and falling apart from waiting in the tree lots so long. This is a picture of my older sister...my self and my baby brother. My mother used to tell me of how the day before Christmas my father would give her maybe only 25$ to buy gifts for us kids and anyone else she could squeeze into that amount. My poor mother was faced with Christmas shopping on Christmas eve with very little money...and the stores picked over etc....while my father sat in the bar in town waiting for her to finish and take her back home. It was very depressing for my mother and I am sure she tried her best. Us kids didn't know of her hardship growing up and Christmas was special all the same...for it WAS Christmas.

An old family picture while I was still in my first marriage. The back row is (left to right) my sister, her husband, myself and my ex. The front row (left to right) my brother, my mother and father and my son.

Christmas in our later years at my sister home in kansas. That's me in the background, my brother to the right, my mother on the merry ol'e nicks lap and my sister in the foreground.

This is a picture of my brother's wedding. That is my mother on the left...my brother and his new wife and new daughter.
